Dimethyltryptamine - DMT

Dimethyltryptamine - DMT

Oct 04, 2026

image At approximately 1:45 A.M. on October 3rd, 2026 the Final Quarter Moon in Cancer began --- 52.7%. By 12:45 P.M. it had come to a conclusion --- 47.4%. The moon remained in Cancer the entire time.

Lady Lilith is very present in my day to day experience right now & she has asked me to speak on feminine aspects of life. Specifically, menstrual cycles & how they connect those who menstruate to the moon. If one finds themself[ves] bleeding with the Final Quarter Moon, they belong to the 'Purple Moon Cycle'. 'Purple Witches' often feel as if there is a dark entity, such as Lady Lilith, begging them to 'KNOW THYSELF'. They may be in a transitional period of life, soon to embark on a new chapter.

If you bled during this Final Quarter Moon in Cancer, you may have found yourself thinking about your female lineage throughout this moon phase. With the news circulating regarding the Cornell 7, your thoughts may have been darker in nature. You may be non-verbal; unable to put into words the anger, the fear, & the grief felt by every feminine aligned person in your family line. It can feel impossible to call upon the masculine essence during these times. Bringing logic online when BIG feelings run rampant isn't easy. However, if one enters the next phase of the cycle --- New Moon --- in a dysregulated state, one cannot expect to see the results of anything they manifest. Rather than wallowing in these overwhelming emotions, I challenge you to take those thoughts & turn them into questions.

  • What traits did the women who came before me embody?

  • Are those traits that I admire &/or respect? If yes, how can I cultivate those within myself? If no, how can I overcome the programming that leaves those traits lying dormant in my psyche?

  • Is there a person I consider a role model for healthy femininity inside or outside of my family line?

  • What about that person is endearing?

It is rare for one to align with one phase of the moon indefinitely. So, try to appreciate this opportunity for self-study. Become enraptured with knowing more about what femininity means to YOU. And as you move through the other phases, you'll find yourself feeling more & more whole.

Our drug of choice today is feminine in nature, as well. Dale Pendell, author of the Pharmako series, describes the entity he met during his DMT trip using she/her pronouns.

"I will not talk about my ally other than that she has whiskers & is a touch territorial.

I like her fine.

You should have seen what she did to the other spirits nosing around especially shaman types with their dismissive attitudes & to things like conceptual thoughts or judgements or even hints of such.

'Mine!' she screamed, 'He's mine, mine!'"

When I speak about psychedelics, I prefer to use the word 'experiences' over the word 'trips'. An experience, as defined by Webster, is practical knowledge, skill, or practice gained from direct observation of or participation in events or a particular activity. Alternatively, Webster defines a trip as a short journey for a particular purpose. Experience is a Middle English word borrowed from Anglo-French, who borrowed it from the Latin word 'experientia', which means a testing of possibilities. Trip comes to us from the Middle English word 'trippen', which comes from the Anglo-French word 'treper', akin to the Old English word 'treppan', meaning to tread. The word 'trap' has the same origin as trip. I've not been given any reason to perceive mind-altering hallucinogens as traps. I have, however, entered into experiences from which I gained knowledge... mostly about myself.

I've not had the pleasure of meeting the ally known as dimethyltryptamine. And apparently, even if I had, I wouldn't be able to tell you much about it. Those who've engaged with it say that no matter how hard they try to bring messages back from the 'other side'... they can't. The experience lasts between fifteen to thirty minutes, but the person having the experience may claim they've been 'gone' for weeks. Those who believe, as well as skeptics, will tell you that DMT introduces you to entities --- aliens or otherwise other-worldly beings. Terence McKenna spent a significant amount of time educating people on the drug & the 'friends' he met while taking it. He speaks of them in one of two ways.

[1] They are a psychological phenomena. They are aspects of oneself buried in the psyche, only accessible when the brain is 'relaxed' enough to allow them to surface.

[2] They are a species living in a realm that is outside of our own, perhaps adjacent to ours. And one must walk through a 'magical door' to enter it.

Whatever they are, McKenna believed that with them, he found luv. NOT l-o-v-e, love. L-u-v. There's no sexual attraction associated with this feeling; no romance, either. He described it as a sticky substance that he couldn't escape from; it permeated the dimension & was fed into him.

Dr. Rick Strassman, a practicing psychiatrist & tenured professor at the University of New Mexico, is the only person to conduct clinical studies of DMT since the 1960s. Through his research, the drug earned the common name: spirit molecule. We know the body produces DMT, but have yet to discover the source, so there are many speculations about what part is responsible for production. Strassman believes it is the pineal gland, sometimes referred to as the '3rd eye'. His hypothesis is that during pivotal times of our life, such as the moment the 'life force' enters our body --- 49 days post-conception --- our body is flooded with DMT. He also believes one can induce this flood of endogenous DMT through deep meditation, dreaming, or being in a state of psychosis. Rick observed many volunteers undergo this experience. He categorized their reports into three distinct types:

  • Personal: revelations about one's life & relationships

  • Mystical: spiritual insights

  • Transpersonal: encounters with autonomous entities

Unfortunately, he had a hard time handling the last one. His Zen Buddhism training, & those who mentored him in buddhism, told him that what these people had experienced or seen wasn't 'real'. That the entities were merely figments of the imagination or part of the 'dream'. The aliens didn't like that.

We do know that DMT binds with the sigma-1 receptor in the body. One of this receptor's roles is to protect our cells when our oxygen levels run low. This could be the knowledge that upholds Strassman's beliefs. People who have had near-death experiences do sometimes report that they saw other-worldly beings or traversed to other realms prior to being revived. I know from watching my partner walk his mother towards the threshold of death, her day to day experience right now is that of a psychedelic trip. And because she is likely dying of lung cancer, her oxygen levels --- without the assistance of the tank --- are low. So, if you ask me, it isn't out of the question to assume that our bodies harbor constituents capable of sending us off with a mystical farewell.

Dale records the happenings of his psychedelic experiences in detail. Or, his trip sitter does. While on DMT, from the 1-minute mark to the 2-minute mark, he reports being fully enveloped in the experience. By minute number four, his sitter claims he was in child's pose howling so loudly he sounded like a cat in heat. It was at this time that Dale proclaimed, "Through the female line only." Something he realized later, in reflection, that his ally, the entity he met, had strong feelings about. He began conversing with the birds outside the window by minute fifteen. He swore they were talking back. It wasn't until 38 minutes had passed that he resumed speaking to his colleagues. Within the next five minutes, he was smoking nicotine & detailing a long speech given to him by his ally, who apparently 'marked' him before she left. Which is to say, he felt as if a cat-like creature defecated on him in the other realm & he was sure it could be smelled in the waking world. No one other than him could actually smell anything.

Today's card pull comes from my 'tumultuous tarot' deck.

image It's the 2 of Wands, but they are being depicted by fishing rods. Which immediately brings to mind the cliché phrase: Gone Fishing. Meaning one is 'out to lunch' or unavailable. You or someone you are close to might be in the process of making plans. While in this state it might mean you, or they, aren't as present. Pros & cons list may be employed. Compare & contrast may prove necessary. Whatever the case, one is engrossed in this decision. The 2 of Wands aligns with Mars in Aries. The choice being made could be related to finances, the structuring of one's life, or matters of paternity. While I'm not suggesting that one rush into anything, I would advise to not slip into rumination. It is easy to get so caught up in the 'what ifs' that we cease to DO.
