One Year Later: Where I Am Now

One Year Later: Where I Am Now

Sep 08, 2026

We’re coming up on one year since the wave of firings that followed Charlie Kirk’s death, and I was one of the people who lost their career during it.

At the time, my community showed up for me in a way I will never forget. You raised an incredible amount of money through GoFundMe and gave me something I desperately needed: time. Time to pay my bills, keep a roof over my head, take care of my animals, and figure out what the hell came next.

But something I think gets lost when people see a large fundraising number is that money goes incredibly fast when there is no income replacing it. Rent still comes every month. Groceries, utilities, pet care, insurance and everything else that comes with simply existing don't stop because people helped you once.

For almost an entire year, I applied and interviewed and tried to find my way back into stable employment. The only concrete opportunity I’ve been able to find is the job I’m working now: a temporary, part-time position from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. It’s work, and I’m grateful for it, but it isn’t long-term stability.

I also moved to Portland and started rebuilding my life in a completely new city during all of this.

And somewhere along the way, the advocacy and content I was doing because I cared about it became one of the only things keeping me afloat.

So that’s why I’m here.

Buy Me a Coffee gives people who value my work a way to support it directly without the urgency of a crisis fundraiser. I want to keep talking about the things that matter, amplifying people who need help, raising money for causes and communities when I can, and using the platform I’ve built to actually do some good.

My goal is ultimately to make this work sustainable enough that I can keep doing it.

If you’ve supported me financially, shared my work, defended me, sent me a job lead, or simply stuck around over this past year: thank you.

It has been a fucking year. ❤️
