Logbook

Jan 28, 2022

Let's start with some features we already have, this is the description of one of 5 big parts of the application that we already have. I will post one each week or so.

Yes, it's very obvious, but Logbook.

You never had one like this, you can store so much data, and there is a lot of automation (come on, it's 2022, do you still write by hand?).

Let's start with something easy.

Jumps dashboard

It's a good thing to review your whole experience.

Look at mine, it's not so healthy. I need to be more variable in jumps style. But I had a Classic skydiving job for 10 years, let's forgive me for that, it's a part of the path. Now I have a direction.

I will not say about usual things you can see on any form for jumps, let's talk about innovations.

FF time

We have one Innovation here, it's automatic free-fall time calculation. Just try it, it's designed by one of our team members, he is a real aircraft engineer and knows a lot about air resistance and other stuff.

You can test it in Tools, we have a chart with a comparison. Did you ever think, why you can't catch your friend during FF, or have you been surprised by ff with the same speed as your "completely different sized buddy"?

You can compare it on a chart.

Looks like I'll need to adjust my position just a bit (or a lot) to jump Formation with Den, or I can just take some kilos with a weight belt, next summer we will see.

Weather

Another feature here is Weather, we can preload the weather you had during the jump, so you can see a correlation between wind and your accuracy or mood.

YouTube

Let's go further, do you have Videos of your jumps? For sure you have.

For me it's a mess, now you can link YouTube video to the jump, so you can easily find it by location, date, etc., and read how much joy you had.

Templates

How often do you change your jumps location? Probably rarely that you would like to. And this boring logbook fill-out process with the same data is killing me too. Forget, here they are - Jump Templates.

Prepare the template with data you want and add up to 20 jumps at once with only a few clicks. That's awesome, FF calculated automatically, position and equipment set in the template, don't miss any jump in your collection.

Jump Views

Next, different jump views: list, calendar, and map. That's clear I guess.

Unfortunately I spend a lot of time doing this project and that's how my June 2021 looks like, not so many jumps, I know, but the quality was great.

Have you ever been to Elblag, Poland? It's the baltic sea, nice view, and super fresh air for a central continental living man. I did a few jumps there last summer. Enjoyed so much, wait for me this year.

Statistics

Oh, well. Of course, you are not just wasting the time jumping, you are a fighter and moving to your goal. For sure you need points of control to see a progress. Here it is - Statistics.

Let's have a look at the time I was a part of National Skydiving team, the last championship I took part, It's Germany 2017, Accuracy Landing.

image

What we can see here - looks like not the best championship for the team and for me. As we can see, I influenced the team result a lot, and the total result correlates with mine, so I'm not a huge deviant here. Also, sometimes my result was the biggest part of common, that's not so good, but the point to work out.

We will provide more tools to analyze results in the future.

That's even not the end!

Signatures

Let's imagine, there is a guy coming to your DZ and tells he has a billion jumps, but no one saw it and can't vouch. Would you trust him? I wouldn't. So it's a better idea to get the proof. That's about jumps signatures. We do have them!

Just open a jump and click on 3 dots in the right corner, there is a Signature block. You can specify the coach's name and license number. Of course, there is a date, jump type, and wing load - the most important information about the jump.

Incident reports

Help us to aggregate information, you can mark cutaways and incidents and allow us to analyze anonymized data about it.

Together we can make our jumps safer.

Export

And of course, the question I'm always asking myself, "What will happen with all this data if an application will be closed", we have an Export! So you can easily export all jumps you made in the volume required for the paper logbook. Anytime, just click Export on the jumps list.

In the future we plan to introduce the Print function, so you can print and then sew a real paper logbook. But you will never need to.
