California Attorney General Rob Bonta has released four new resources intended to protect the state’s elections in the final days before the 3 November General Election, while urging voters who have not yet cast ballots to do so promptly.

The materials include a legal alert outlining California’s chain-of-custody rules and protections against seizure of election materials; a law-enforcement bulletin issued under Senate Bill 73 that guides election officials on responding to attempts by law enforcement to access voting or counting sites; a separate bulletin on legal protections against voter and poll-worker intimidation; and a consumer alert warning about election-related misinformation, including content generated by artificial intelligence and circulated on social media.

Bonta also reiterated that every active registered California voter has received a vote-by-mail ballot and can return it at an official drop box, by mail, or in person. To reduce the risk of postal delays, voters are being encouraged to use drop boxes or vote in person. Eligible residents who missed the online registration deadline can still register and vote through Same Day Voter Registration.

The California Department of Justice will maintain a team of attorneys and staff on call to assist the Secretary of State’s office with enforcement of state election laws through Election Day. Voters can track their ballots at wheresmyballot.sos.ca.gov and report problems through the Secretary of State’s voter hotline.

This series exists to surface the primary record without the noise. If these rewrites are useful, support the work on Patreon or Buy Me a Coffee.
