Michigan has already recorded 1,392,170 ballots cast one week before the 3 November General Election, representing 18.8 percent of the state’s active registered voters, according to the Secretary of State’s office.

Of that total, more than 1.1 million voters returned mail (absentee) ballots and 215,795 cast ballots at early in-person voting sites. Early voting sites opened statewide on 24 October. More than 134,000 of the early in-person votes came during the first two days of the period. This is the first midterm general election in which every Michigan voter has access to statewide early in-person voting.

As of 27 October, 2,154,870 voters had requested a mail ballot, including more than 2 million on the permanent mail-ballot list. Early voting continues through 1 November for at least eight hours each day, with some communities offering additional hours on 2 November.

Mail ballots must be received by clerks no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day. With the deadline approaching, voters are being advised to use local drop boxes or hand-deliver ballots rather than rely on the postal service. Voters can track their mail ballots and locate drop boxes or early voting sites at mi.gov/vote.
