I'm the creator and maintainer of https://github.com/vibur/vibur-dbcp – a mature and complete JDBC connection pool library offering advanced performance monitoring and metrics generation capabilities. An integration module with Hibernate became part of the standard Hibernate ORM distribution since 2018.
Vibur-DBCP is built on top of https://github.com/vibur/vibur-object-pool – a general-purpose concurrent Java object pool, built entirely using standard Java concurrency utilities, without any synchronized blocks or methods, and without any external dependencies. Vibur-object-pool is an excellent choice for pooling expensive-to-create Java objects, such as socket connections, mail transport connections, and similar.
