Analysis Paralysis - Signafield - First Turn Overview

Oct 06, 2026

Going forward, if you ever see "Analysis Paralysis", that means you are about to get some long, in-depth info on something. For some people this may not actually be that long, but hey, its a heads up ^_^.

START OF POST - Signafield - A Basic First Turn

Here is a simple step-by-step for a first turn!

But... First build our Ship (Deck)!

3 Card Types

There are 3 types of cards (Cyber Signas) that can go into a Ship (Deck)... Cyber-Mains, Immediates, and Ultimatums.

Putting a Ship (Deck) Together

We must start the Game with exactly 60 Cyber Signas inside our Ship (Deck).

We cannot have more than 3 copies of the same Cyber Signa in our Ship (Deck).

For the sake of this example, well throw in 30 Cyber-Mains, 20 Immediates, and 10 Ultimatums for this analysis, giving us a Ship (Deck) of 60 cards (Cyber Signas).

Give Us Some Link (Life)

Both Leaders start the Game with 20 Link, which serves as our "life" mechanic.

Turn Steps

Rise-Step:

At the start of our turn, we draw- just kidding ^_^, search our Ship for exact 5 Cyber Signa we want, and then Send them to our Target Area (Hand).

We decide to take a Rank 3 (more on that later) Cyber-Main, 2 Immediates, and 2 Ultimatums.

Once we Send these 5 Cyber Signa to our Target Area (Hand), our Day-Step begins!!

Day-Step:

Cyber-Mains

During our Day-Step we can only Send 1 Cyber-Main into our Main Zone by default. There are some abilities that allow us to Send additional Rank 1, 2, or 3 Cyber-Mains into the Main Zone during the Day-Step, but that's the lone exception. Cyber-Mains come in Rank 1 to 8 (technically 9, but only up to 8 applies in our case), and these are named Starter (Rank 1), Untrained (Rank 2 or 3), Trained (Rank 4 or 5), Ace (Rank 6 or 7), and Legendary (Rank 8). The cost needed to Send our Cyber-Mains into our Main zone depends on its Rank:

Starters (Rank 1) can be Sent into the Main Zone for free, either using the 1 turn limit, or through the use of an ability. But there is a special rule called "Double Team", that we can use to Send an additional Starter (Rank 1) into our Main Zone. We can do this by Sending 1 Starter (Rank 1) into the Main Zone during the Day-Step using the normal turn limit, and then simply Send in another Starter (Rank 1)! The catch is: We cannot Send any further Cyber-Mains into the Main Zone this turn. Unfortunately, when we selected our 5 Cyber Signas, we only chose 1 Cyber-Main, can't do a Double Team this turn.

A Rank 2 or 3 Cyber-Main can be Sent into the Main Zone for free, either using our 1 turn limit, or through the use of an ability. Unlike Rank 1 Cyber-Mains, Rank 2 and 3s cannot use the Double-Team mechanic.

A Rank 4 and 5 Cyber-Main can only be Sent into our Main Zone by Sending exactly 1 lower Rank Cyber-Main from our Main Zone to Standby (Discard Pile). Abilities and Double Team cannot be used to play a Rank 4 or 5.

A Rank 6 and 7 Cyber-Main can only be Sent into our Main Zone by Sending exactly 2 lower Rank Cyber-Mains from our Main Zone to Standby (Discard Pile). Abilities and Double Team cannot be used to play a Rank 6 or 7.

A Rank 8 Cyber-Main can only be Sent into our Main Zone by Sending exactly 2 lower Rank Cyber-Mains from our Main Zone to Standby (Discard Pile), and only if we do not already have a Legendary (Rank 8) in play. Abilities and Double Team cannot be used to play a Rank 8.

Immediates

We can also Send up to 2 Immediates per turn into our Back Zone during the Day-Step, however, the amount of Immediates we Send into our Back Zone limits how many Ultimatums we can Send in later this turn, so gotta be careful with this. Some Immediates (Sending-Types) are used immediately (no pun intended) and disposed of, while other Immediates (Equipping-Types) stick around a while.

Proceeding With the Day-Step

Since we have 1 Rank 3 Cyber-Main, 2 Immediates, and 2 Ultimatums, we decide to Send 1 Cyber-Main into our Main Zone, and then Send 1 Immediate into our Back Zone. Looking at our Target Area (Hand), we have 1 Immediate Sending Immediate that provides a large buff for 1 turn, and 1 Equipping Immediate that provides a smaller buff that stays. We plan to bring out a Rank 5 on our next turn, so we use the Sending Immediate to buff our Cyber-Main's stats. Since our Immediate does not equip, we have to Send it to Standby (Discard Pile) after gaining the buff.

FOS-Step:

This is our FOS-Step, also known as the "Face Off Signa Step". Normally, during the FOS-Step, our Cyber-Mains can apply Frequency (attack) or activate an Ability, but a Cyber-Main cannot do both in the same turn. Since this is the very first turn of the Game, we must skip the FOS-Step entirely. Thankfully, we buffed our Rank 3 to make it harder to get rid of before our next turn.

Night-Step:

Ultimatums

We can only Send Ultimatums into our Back Zone equal to the amount of Immediates we DID NOT Send into our Back Zone this turn. Since we only Sent 1 Immediate out of the 2 Immediate limit, that means we can Send up to 1 Ultimatum!

Cyber-Mains (Revisited)

If we did not Send any Cyber-Mains into our Main Zone this turn, then we can Send 1 Cyber Main into our Main Zone, but only by means of the 1 turn limit method.

Proceeding with the Night Step

Looking back at our Target Area (Hand), we have 2 Ultimatums: 1 that will Send our opponent's Cyber-Main to their Standby, and 1 that will counter an Ultimatum that our opponent might use on us. Since its early game, we decide to Send the Ultimatum that counters into our Back Zone, giving us a head-start on controlling the game's resources.

Rest-Step:

This is the end of our turn. At the end of every turn, we must Send all remaining Cyber Signas in our Target Area (Hand) to our Standby (Discard Pile). But there is a kicker:

Every turn on the Rest-Step, we must Send at least 1 Cyber Signa into Standby, otherwise, we lose the Game.

Thankfully, we have 2 Cyber Signas in our Target Area (Hand), so we can safely Send both to Standby. So we Send our remaining Immediate and Ultimatum into Standby, us losing an Equipping Immediate and an Ultimatum that could have taken down a bigger threat, ouch.

Perhaps if we played more optimally, we could have found a way to save 1 of our Cyber Signas... But what could we have done? Well, remember that Double Team mechanic we had talked about? If we had chosen 2 Starters (Rank 1) instead of a Rank 3, 2 Immediates, and then 1 Ultimatum, we could have Sent our first Starter into the Main Zone, and then, using Double Team, we could have Sent our second Starter into our Main Zone. Then, once we played an Immediate and our 1 Ultimatum, we would have only had to Send 1 Cyber Signa to Standby. That could have been a much better play than what we did, because we would have wasted less resources, hey, you live and you learn.

This was a first turn analysis for how the Team Matches work. Heavy, I know.
