Відомості Shy Talk Legacy
Legacy project: digital archive; grassroots music $ arts events.
Grassroots music, archive and legacy project, founded in loving memory of my dear friend Steve 'the punk' Shy (Steve Burke) - creator of iconic punk fanzine 'ShyTalk', as featured on BBC Brass Tacks punk documentary in 1977.

Steve was a well-known figure on the Manchester music scene and much-loved. His Stroke Club nights at Gullivers and other venues, have gone on to achieve legendary status and the place where many creative collaborations and friendships were forged. Despite his passing in 2022, the impact of these happenings continues, and over the last four years I have staged many grassroots events in Steve's memory.
I have compiled an archive of Steve's legacy on this dedicated website: https://www.shytalklegacy.com
In 2023, I commissioned a portrait mosaic with Steve's ashes in the grouting, which now hangs over a booth in Gullivers pub, Manchester, for his family and friends to have a drink with - this was unveiled at the first ever Shy Fest event. Now heading into its 4th year, having featured on BBC 6music's Craig Charles show, the fate of the events now lie in the outcome of an Arts Council England funding application due to the amount of work and costings involved in me single-handedly producing the events.
I also have a work-in-progress documentary in production and would love to get this completed with funding, but for now it is moving slowly due to financial restrictions, since all of the work I do on this project is completely unpaid and not for profit.
There are certain costs incurred in keeping the project running and evolving, and for the website itself, which make it diffucult to manage at times, so if you can spare a bob or two now and then, that is much appreciated!
Thank you!
Yvette
