đ± About Shepherdâs Garden
Welcome to Shepherdâs Garden â where sheep, solar, and resilience come together.
Iâm building a book called Grit, Grief, and Goats (Well, Actually Sheep): The Weight of Resilience. Itâs about farming, family, and fighting for survival through massive systems that too often fail the very people theyâre meant to serve. Itâs about raising sheep while raising kids, carrying grief and postpartum depression, wrestling ADHD, and navigating a complicated estate- all while trying to grow a farm, a small business, and a nonprofit vision for food and energy systems that actually work.
Itâs also about the red tape: badly written policies, food and energy insecurity, small-town power struggles, relationships, and rural inequities that trap disadvantaged farmers. And yet, itâs also funny. Because sheep (and babies) donât care about deadlines, and sometimes duct tape works better than bureaucracy.
đ Why This Project Matters
Resilience isnât free. Itâs often invisible, demanded most from those with the least: small farmers, women, parents, and historically underserved communities. By supporting Shepherdâs Garden, youâre helping make sure these stories are told, not lost. Youâll also be fueling work that helps solar developers, policymakers, and investors understand the real challenges and opportunities of building food and energy systems that serve everyone.
đ What Youâll Get
Supporters here arenât just donating- youâre joining a community. Depending on your tier, youâll get:
- Early access to chapters and behind-the-scenes farm updates.
- Free and discounted project and farm merchandise, from stickers to photobooks and calendars to discounts on farm-grown products.
- Recognition in the book itself- from acknowledgments to dedication pages.

đĄ How Youâre Helping
By supporting Shepherdâs Garden, youâre:
- Sustaining a farm and family trying to survive against the odds.
- Making sure a vital book about resilience gets written and published.
- Building visibility for agrivoltaics- not just solar grazing but also other options for small and next generation farmers to support energy, food, and climate solutions.
- Creating a community that proves resilience can be shared, not demanded in silence.
Together, we can turn grit into a story- and a movement- that lasts.
