Note-Taking: Windows Console Application and VIM integration

Mar 19, 2021

This application is a stand-alone version of Python termnote, optimized and improved for Windows OS. A lightweight but powerful terminal note-taking application.

After the installation, double-click on the wintermnote desktop shortcut and write your first note, by pressing (n).

By default, the app will use Microsoft Notepad as the text editor and will save your notes as a plain text file in the Documents/MyNotes folder. This directory is easily recognizable since it has a customized icon.

From the initial menu, you can also type (c) and you will be able to edit the configuration file, you can define, for instance, a different directory for your notes.

Advanced Configuration

You can also use WinTermNote seamlessly with Vim. WinTermNote and the Vim-Notes plugin share the same structure where the first line is the note's title and the note's filename is the title with the selected suffix.

Sync across other PCs or mobile phones

You can use one of the available file-sharing/synchronization tools, like Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive, or iCloud Drive. I would like to mention here also syncthing, my preferred choice for file synch.

Compatibility with other applications

Since your notes are just plain text files, you can use Windiction style-checker (Export to Docx/Odt format) or Remekpy if you want to quickly turn your note into an HTML presentation.
