Your Sphere of Influence Didn't Forget You - They Just Lost Sight Of You

Oct 06, 2026

Your experience built your reputation. Video and social media help make sure you’re remembered when it’s time to hire an agent.

You find out a friend bought a house with another agent.

You like the post. You type “Congratulations!” You briefly consider throwing your phone into a decorative shrub.

Because they knew you were a real estate agent. Right?

Probably. But knowing what you do and remembering you when it matters are two different things.

That is a frustrating place to land when you have years of experience, real relationships, and a track record you worked hard to build.

You know how to navigate a difficult transaction. You can spot a problem before it becomes a closing-day disaster. You have answered the same financing question enough times to deliver the explanation in your sleep.

Yet someone with less experience keeps showing up online, starting conversations, and getting calls you wish had come to you.

It can feel like your experience is being overlooked.

Sometimes, it simply isn’t being seen.

Your reputation still matters. People need opportunities to encounter it.

Old-school marketing earned its place

Phone calls. Handwritten notes. Client appreciation events. Community involvement. Staying in touch after the closing.

Those things helped many of us build our businesses. They still have value because real estate runs on relationships, and relationships need attention.

Keep the personal connection.

But if your entire marketing strategy depends on people remembering a conversation from three years ago, you are asking their memory to do a lot of unpaid labor.

People get busy. Their needs change. They meet other agents. They see someone explaining a problem they happen to be facing.

Meanwhile, you may be doing excellent work behind the scenes with very little of it visible to the people who could benefit from it.

You can respect what built your business while updating how people discover and remember you.

“I’ve always done it this way” can get expensive

Learning new technology can feel exhausting when you already have a business to run.

You open a social media app and suddenly everybody has a microphone, a lighting setup, and an opinion about what you should be doing.

You wanted to market your expertise. Apparently, there is now choreography.

So you put it off.

You tell yourself referrals have always worked. You will make a video when things slow down. You will figure out the technology later.

Then another month passes, and your online presence still gives people very little sense of what it would be like to work with you.

The painful part is that you may have the answer someone needs, but they hear it from the agent who showed up.

Being experienced does not automatically make your expertise visible.

Video gives people a chance to experience your expertise

A useful video can let someone hear how you explain a complicated issue, notice your patience, and get a feel for your personality.

That is valuable for a seasoned agent.

You have actual experience to draw from: the inspection that changed a buyer’s decision, the preparation that helped a seller, the question clients are embarrassed to ask.

You do not have to manufacture a fascinating life. You already do work that matters to people making expensive, emotional decisions.

A video answering a common client question can extend the same helpful conversation you would have over coffee.

A social post can give a past client a reason to reconnect or share your perspective with a friend.

New technology can carry your relationship skills further. Your judgment, care, and experience give that technology something worth carrying.

This is why I created Seasoned and Seen

Seasoned and Seen helps seasoned real estate agents strengthen their marketing with video, social media, and practical technology.

I know how frustrating it is to have knowledge worth sharing and then feel awkward the moment the camera turns on.

Or to sit down to create a post and suddenly forget every useful conversation you have ever had with a client.

Or to wonder whether you have to reinvent your entire personality to stay relevant.

You don’t.

You do need room to learn, practice, and update your approach.

At Seasoned and Seen, the goal is to help you bring your experience into the way you market today, with a voice that still sounds like you.

That includes addressing the hesitation that keeps capable agents off camera. It is also why I created Go Live Without Freezing.

Because another year of saying “I really need to start doing video” is still another year of people missing the chance to hear what you know.

Your phone calls, referrals, and handwritten notes can stay in the plan.

Give your experience more places to show up.

You have spent years becoming an agent people can trust. Let your marketing help them see why.
