Free maritime English and STCW practice for seafarers
I am Łukasz. I went to sea in 1995 with a chipping hammer in my hand and spent nineteen years there, from ordinary seaman to Chief Officer, with a Master Mariner licence in my pocket. Today I work in crew management and read English test results from the other side of the desk.
I have seen good sailors lose contracts over a test score, and I have seen what happens on board when the bridge and the deck do not share a language. Both problems have the same fix: practical English, taught the way ships actually use it.
That is why seamanenglish.com exists. A full practice test in the recruitment format with real audio in seven accents, a listening trainer, a knowledge test for your rank, COLREG, IALA, signal flags, VHF, safety signs, life-saving appliances, fire protection. Everything is free, there are no ads, nothing tracks you, and every question is written by me, never copied from any real exam.
I build it after hours and pay the bills myself: hosting and the voices you hear in the recordings. If a test here helped you sign a contract, a coffee keeps the next batch of recordings coming. You get nothing extra for it except the knowledge that the next seafarer will find the same free page you did.
Fair winds.
