"She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: 'You are the God who sees me,' for she said, 'I have now seen the One who sees me.'" Genesis 16:13

Understanding This Verse

This verse comes from a moment when Hagar felt forgotten, rejected, and alone. She had been mistreated and found herself in the wilderness, unsure of what would happen next. Yet in the middle of her pain, God met her there.

What stands out is the name Hagar gives God.. "El Roi" Meaning.. "the God who sees me." She wasn't just acknowledging that God knew about her existence. She was recognising that God saw her situation, her hurt, her fears, and her needs. He saw everything she was carrying even when no one else seemed to notice!

Sometimes we think God only sees our successes, our strengths, or the moments when we have everything together. But this verse reminds us that God sees us all the time.. During our weakness, confusion and struggle. His attention isn't distant or casual. It's personal. He sees us fully and still chooses to draw near.

What It Means Today

There are seasons when it's easy to feel overlooked. Maybe you've worked hard and gone unnoticed. Maybe you're carrying burdens that no one around you fully understands. Maybe you've prayed about the same situation for a long time and wonder if God is paying attention.

Genesis 16:13 reminds us that God sees every part of our story. He sees the tears that never make it into words. He sees the disappointments we try to hide. He sees the questions we wrestle with when life doesn't make sense.💫😪

Knowing that God sees us doesn't always remove the difficulty immediately, but it changes how we walk through it. We don't have to face our struggles believing we're abandoned or invisible. We can move forward with confidence that God is present, aware and actively involved in our lives.

When we remember that God sees us, we can choose trust over despair, hope over discouragement, and faith over fear.. Even when the path ahead isn't completely clear.💕

imagePrayer for you ❤️

Heavenly Father, thank You for being the God who sees me. Nothing in my life escapes Your notice. You see my joys, my struggles, my questions and the things I carry inside of me.

Help me to remember Your presence when I feel overlooked, discouraged or alone. Teach me to trust that You are working even when I cannot see the full picture. Give me peace in the places where I am anxious and confidence in the areas where I feel uncertain.

Today, I choose to believe that I am not forgotten. I choose to trust that You see my situation and care about every detail of my life. No matter what I face, I will remember that I am known, loved, and seen by You.

Amen.

Have a Beautiful and Blessed Day Xx
