À propos SPINAL CORD PEER SUPPORT WORLDWIDE
My name is Jay Erwin and in 2013 I sustained a crippling injury when the top of a tree broke off and fell to the ground where I was standing. When the huge branches hit me they crushed all my bones in the whole left hand side of my body from my shoulder all the way down to the the bottom rib cage. The tree hit me with such force that it killed me, but miraculously my Son was there who had never taken CPR before, but God gave him the knowledge and saved my life using it. After being flown by helicopter to a neighboring state to a trauma center my family learned that there was a very good chance that I might not make it through the night, but if I survived that I would most definitely be paralyzed for the rest of my life! When I was awakened after eighteen days, my wife gave me the bad news and I was literally crushed a second time because before my injury I was an athlete who was a very avid marathon runner. After that tearful day, I allowed my faith to kick in overdrive and sucked it all up. After much prayer and reflection, I said to myself that I wasn’t going to allow this injury to get the best of me and that I would allow God to direct me in which direction He would want me to go.
After returning back home, God gave me a clear vision for what He wanted me to do and I created the first of its kind network on Facebook that would help all those that suffered a spinal cord injury (SCI). I named this brand new network, “Spinal Cord Peer Support Worldwide” and ever since launching this new network it has grown exponentially! SCPSWorldwide has become quite successful and it has grown to over 15,000 members worldwide today!
SCPSWorldwide has helped so many people of all ages who have been affected by this devastating injury as well as helping many others such as spouses, caregivers, family members, people working in the field of SCI and students training to one day help those who have been affected by this injury.
It takes a lot of time, patience and hard work making sure that our network runs very smoothly and I am quite thankful that two other people have accepted a management role to help me run this massive network. Their names are Lynn Houston and Kate Morse and they have both been very dedicated to our cause and have helped me make sure that SCPSWorldwide runs like a well oiled machine.
