Quick overview of the battery box Greg brought with for our 2023 Summer Support Your Parks camping trip. A simple to build and functional option for those looking to build a battery box for portable radio, or general use for such activities as camping.
A battery box may not fit the needs for many portable radio scenarios, like SOTA or other backpack portable activities where the extra weight and mass could be a hindrance. However they do offer some organizational conveniences for a "grab and go" setup.
While I've always liked the concept of a battery box, I haven't put forth the effort to build or purchase one of my own. But this setup that Greg shows in the above video has convinced me to build my own.
Components are on order now. I plan to build one around my 30Ah LiFePO4 battery from Amped Outdoors. More to follow on that adventure.
