If it ain't rainin' it ain't trainin'
That is a motivational phrase I've heard a few times to remind people to "embrace the suck."
I think it is something that amateurs who have an interest in Emcomms need to fully embrace. We need to not cancel our weekend POTA plans if the the weather forecast is not favorable.
Obvious exceptions would be dangerous conditions, like lightning, hail, etc. However a cold and rainy day shouldn't stop all portable radio outings.
A rainy day is the time to figure how to keep your radio dry and happy. It gives you an opportunity to work out portable shelter options like tarps and tents. You find out what works and doesn't in real world conditions.
That way, if the time comes to be in the field for an emergency in poor weather, it won't be your first rodeo.
