Let's get to the point; I don't think it's worth the money
I rambled too much in the video, for I wanted to like this thing. After all, I spent over a hundred dollars for it. It is a great thing for those who would use it. But 95% of amteratur radio operators would not get their money’s worth out of it.
Like I said in the video, I don't regret buying the field guide. The guide has good information and it is put together very will. More importantly it has given me some ideas on how to make some additions to it that will better fill my needs.
If you haven't seen it already, watch KM4ACK's video
Jason goes into more detail and you may see things in the reference guide that would make it worth your money. As always, great information from Jason.
The TangoOscarMike alternative
Turns out Tom has been building something similar from scratch. He has some good ideas and shows a good demonstration of the write in the rain paper. He has also introduced me to Battle Board products!
Tom has shown some of his Battle Board items in previous videos. I've had my eye on them for a while and thanks to the above video I finally placed an order with Battle Board. I am very pleased.
More to come!
The field book will become a regular component to my portable radio kit. I am following TangoOscarMike's game plan and will be building a useful tool for my portable radio use.
That is the cool thing about this. Make something useful for your needs.
