Look at me, I'm eBegging now on Buy Me a Coffee!

Nov 28, 2021

Well no, not really...

I want to make this clear from the start. I will not be jumping on the eBagging bandwagon. I do not consider myself a "content creator" an "influencer" or any of that BS. I have no intentions of quitting my real job and try to survive off of internet pledges, affiliate links, or plugging cheap Chinese products.

Plus let's be completely honest. I don't make anything of real value. Just videos of me having fun on a SOTA or POTA activation, me playing with radio gear, etc. My videos are just a fun distraction, that's it. Sometimes someone may "learn" something, but that is purely by accident, not by design.

So if I'm not becoming "yet another shill", why the Buy Me a Coffee page, you may be asking.

I was looking for a way to post more content related to my youtube channel. Both blogposts like this and videos that may not be a good fit for youtube. Instead of creating a website for a youtube adjacent blog, I figured I'd create this Buy Me a Coffee page for a number of reasons.

It's free and easy to use. It has a clean and simple look. It has some cool features, like linking to Discord. But let's be honest; if someone wants to throw a buck or two my way, why not?

If you seen my youtube videos, you may have noticed I'm not big on the normal "call to actions" we've all become accustomed to seeing. I don't make a point to say "smash that like" or "don't forget to subscribe" in my videos. I figure most people are intelligent enough to subscribe to my channel if they really like it on their own. You will also not see many reminders to "buy me a coffee" either.

So what's in it for you if you choose to become a Supporter or Member?

Not a whole lot. There are some of the standard perks like exclusive content and private Discord channels, if you're into all of that. Overall the majority of the content that will be going here will be visible to the public. I really just want a place to share the stuff that doesn't fit the youtube format, like topic adjacent videos, written after action reports, links to useful websites, etc.

However if people actually sign up for memberships, I will definitely come up with something to thank them for their support.

To sum things up.

If you enjoy what I post to youtube, there will be more content here for you to check out. There is absolutely no need on my side for support or membership from you here on Buy Me a Coffee.

I'm a grown man who can pay for his own hobbies and vacations.

Now that I read the above one more time... I should also make it clear that I do not think that anyone who puts forth effort into be a real content creator is being a shill or something along those lines.

There are people out there working hard at an online side hustle and deserve a lot of credit for what they do. I'm just trying stress I do not confuse myself as one of them.
