Welcome guys!
Just a little update as i'm sure many of you will have realised i've not been overly active on tiktok this last month, and I probably owe my regulars an explanation on why i've fallen off the face of the earth, so where have I been?
As many of you will know, Nemo moved across the country a couple of months ago to join us, unfortunately we really struggled finding somewhere to keep him as very few yards take colts and we couldn't have him at ours due to the mares. We found a fabulous little gras livery yard, not overly far from home, but the only catch was he would need a companion, so off Puzzle went to join him.
This meant that me and Em were now splitting ourselves between 3 yards with the responsibilities we have behind the scenes and to be honest with you, it's a lot, I feel like I spend half of my life driving from a to b to c and back again.
I don't share a lot of what I do behind the scenes publicly, however life which started off incredibly busy, got dramatically harder having to go between yards. That alongside work and soon to be uni for Em, there's just very little time for anything other than keeping the ponies alive, we've had very little time to ride or work with them either! Let alone getting content, making videos, going live etc. They're very much living their best feral pony lifestyles at the moment until we can get life to calm down a bit.
However I was 'managing' very early on to fit it all in, if you count staying up the yard til gone 9pm most nights, only to do it again the next day, but unfortunately this caused my mental health to plummet badly, in fact my mental health got to the lowest point it's been for a very very long time.
As you know, i'm very much an undiagnosed AuDHD'er, which makes daily life difficult as it is, let alone when life changes like it has. I've been in a chronic state of burnout for as long as I can remember, however with all the new life changes, my burnout got worse, and something had to give.
Alongside all this we've had minor issues with River, she had her first abscess in months after her Bowen treatment (which was to be expected), so i've been dealing with that, she also had cap issues where I found her completely unable to eat so she needed an emergency dental last week. I'm happy to say, she can now eat again, but it was a very big stress and took its toll mentally, due to the fact River can never catch a break and neither can I apparently!
So with all of this, I decided to have a social media break, I stopped posting my long form videos, i've stopped going live and have simply been trying to keep my head above water, and i have to admit the peace of being off tiktok has been delightful. Originally it was meant to be a temporary break, however the peace I feel not having to worry about judgement, the constant hate, the constant criticism, honestly, I can't say I really want to come back.
So what now?
I'm not sure! You can find me posting on mine and Em's joint tiktok account, we're just posting short videos and edits on there for now (@the.pony.crew) and you can also find some day to day updates on my Insta: @SCLEquine - i mainly post on my story over the actual instagram feed but you can keep up to date here. I do hope to get back to posting the odd long form update on SCL Tiktok once i'm out of this burnout (if i ever get out of it that is) because I did enjoy making these videos before it became a chore.
But for now i'm enjoying the peace, i'm enjoying being off social media, and this may just be the time for me to take my leave. I might come back at a later date once things have calmed down in real life, but I also might not, which i hope you guys can understand the reasoning as to why. I may come back to buy me a coffee if there's any life updates i'd like to share or if my burnout lightens and I have the energy to post my educational posts, but i'll also post the link to them through instagram.
I want to thank every single one of you that has supported me over the last 4+ years of my tiktok journey, my regulars have been so supportive and really have been the reason to keep me going in the past, I truly am appreciative of you all 🩷
But for now this is a temporary goodbye, I hope to see you guys on Insta and once again, thank you so much for everything guys 🩷
