Virat Kohli-Backed Wrogn Posts Rs 244 Crore Revenue in FY26, But Losses Widen 17% to Rs 88 Crore

Bengaluru-based menswear brand Wrogn, backed by cricketer Virat Kohli, reported a 9% rise in operating revenue to Rs 244 crore in FY26, up from Rs 223 crore in FY25. But the growth came with a catch: net loss widened 17% to Rs 88.4 crore from Rs 75.5 crore a year earlier.

Here's what drove the numbers. Total expenditure rose 9.5% to Rs 342.4 crore, and the biggest pressure came from brand-building. Marketing spend jumped 44% to Rs 57.8 crore, brand consultancy charges more than doubled to Rs 19.7 crore, employee costs rose 14% to Rs 44.2 crore, and commissions climbed 6% to Rs 42.1 crore. On the bright side, material costs, the largest expense line at roughly 35% of spending, actually fell about 5% to Rs 119.7 crore.

The company sees the picture differently at the operating level. Wrogn says its EBITDA loss improved 34% to Rs 38 crore from Rs 54 crore, delivering an 8.5-point margin gain. It also points to a strong start to FY27, with Q1 gross merchandise value up 40% YoY to Rs 125 crore, and its owned channels, D2C sales and exclusive brand outlets, growing 120% YoY in the June quarter.

The road ahead is ambitious. Wrogn is targeting Rs 600 crore in GMV in the current fiscal year and plans to open more than 100 exclusive brand outlets by March 2027, doubling down on D2C, its own stores and newer product categories.

The reality check is the competitive gap. Wrogn, founded in 2014 and operated by Universal Sportsbiz and backed by Virat Kohli, Accel and Aditya Birla Group, remains far smaller than newer rivals, with Snitch reporting roughly Rs 900 crore in revenue and Rare Rabbit around Rs 1,100 crore. Wrogn's 9% growth is also being outpaced by its 44% jump in marketing spend, which makes store expansion and customer-acquisition efficiency critical from here.

A celebrity-backed brand can open doors, but in India's crowded menswear market, only efficient growth turns visibility into profit.
