Ranbir Kapoor Enters India’s FMCG Market, Launches Body-Care Brand Flux Theory

Actor Ranbir Kapoor has entered India’s fast-moving consumer goods sector as founder of Flux Theory, a new body-care brand built together with co-founder Advay Jhunjhunwala and venture-building platform Think9. The brand launched in Mumbai, entering the body-wash category with five variants.

imageHere’s what makes the launch genuinely different. Each of the five products, Lover, Rebel, Dreamer, Sport and Sage, is built around a distinct personality archetype paired with a specific fragrance and targeted skin benefit, hydration, cleansing, exfoliation, brightening or moisturisation. The core idea is to let consumers choose based on mood as much as skincare need, essentially asking “who do you want to be today” rather than just “what does your skin need.”

The positioning strategy is deliberate too. Flux Theory is explicitly targeting first-time body-wash users while also giving existing users a reason to reconsider a category that has traditionally been driven by function, familiarity and scale rather than personality or fragrance-led differentiation. For Kapoor, this marks a genuine shift, reporting indicates he’s been involved from the brand’s development stage, shaping its product proposition, creative direction and visual identity, rather than simply lending his face to a conventional celebrity endorsement deal.

The launch campaign reflects that deeper involvement. It features a film bringing together five of Kapoor’s well-known screen characters, weaving his existing public identity directly into the brand’s storytelling rather than treating the association as separate from his acting career.

The distribution play is already in motion. Flux Theory is live across Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Tira, Zepto and Instamart, giving it both traditional e-commerce and quick commerce reach from day one, with festive launch discounts of up to 40% to drive early trial.

The reality check worth noting: launch-day buzz is one thing, surviving in India’s crowded, intensely competitive body-wash category depends entirely on repeat purchases, something the brand hasn’t proven yet. Pricing, the scale of investment, and the ownership split between Kapoor, Jhunjhunwala and Think9 also haven’t been disclosed publicly.

From screen performances to shower shelves, Ranbir Kapoor’s bet on Flux Theory joins a growing wave of Indian celebrities building real consumer brands, not just endorsing someone else’s.
