Q3 2026's Top Growth Deals: AI Startup Emergent Raises $130 Million, EV Maker River Mobility Secures $120 Million

Indian startups raised approximately $2.9 billion in funding during the third quarter of 2026, according to data compiled by Entrackr, with growth-stage deals once again led by a handful of mega rounds, AI startup Emergent and electric two-wheeler maker River Mobility topping the list.

imageHere's how the quarter's biggest checks broke down. Emergent, which became one of India's AI unicorns this year, raised $130 million, the single largest round of Q3. Right behind it, EV maker River Mobility secured $120 million in a Series C round, reinforcing just how much investor capital continues to flow into India's electric mobility space. Healthtech startup Nua followed with $50 million, while Third Wave Coffee raised $43 million and aerospace and defence company Raghu Vamsi Aerospace Group added $40 million, together painting a picture of capital spreading across AI, mobility, consumer and deeptech sectors rather than concentrating in just one category.

The bigger quarterly context matters here. Total funding rose to $2.9 billion from $2.78 billion in Q3 2025, a modest year-on-year recovery, though it remained well below the $4 billion recorded in Q3 2024. Within the quarter itself, funding actually declined sequentially, down from $3.5 billion in Q2 2026 and $3.87 billion in Q1 2026, with fewer large funding rounds overall. It was a late-quarter uptick in September specifically that helped Q3 close above the year-ago comparable, without that September push, the quarter would have looked considerably weaker.

Physical AI also made its presence felt. SiMa.ai, a company with deep Indian roots and a major R&D centre in Bengaluru, raised another $150 million during the quarter, a reminder that India's AI story increasingly spans both software-first startups and deep hardware-AI infrastructure plays.

The early-stage side of the market stayed active too, even without the scale of the growth-stage rounds. Data centre startup CtrlS raised $25 million, while foodtech firm Arboreal Bioinnovations secured $24 million, both notable checks in a quarter where the bulk of headline capital went to a small set of growth-stage winners.

Fewer mega-rounds, a late-quarter rebound, and capital still finding its way to AI and EV leaders, Q3 2026 is proof that India's funding recovery remains real, just not yet broad-based.
