Q3 2026's Early-Stage Leaders: Data Centre Startup CtrlS Raised $25 Million, Foodtech Firm Arboreal Bioinnovations Secured $24 Million

India's early-stage startup funding stayed genuinely resilient through Q3 2026, crossing the $1 billion mark even as overall quarterly funding dipped, and spacetech, fintech, deeptech and mobility featured prominently among the standout deals, according to Entrackr's latest quarterly funding report.

imageHere's where the two headline early-stage names fit into the bigger picture. Hyperscale data centre operator CtrlS raised $25 million, around Rs 250 crore, in a round where Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath personally invested Rs 200 crore, with entrepreneur Sreeram Reddy Vanga contributing the remaining Rs 50 crore, capital earmarked purely for infrastructure expansion as AI and cloud workloads accelerate across India. Right alongside it, foodtech and agritech startup Arboreal Bioinnovations secured $24 million, about Rs 230 crore, in a Series A round led by Edelweiss's EAAA and Omnivore, positioning it to scale sustainable food and agri-input technology.

The wider early-stage leaderboard tells its own story. Spacetech company Pixxel topped the list entirely with a massive $100 million Series A, followed by aviation startup Airbound at $37 million and battery-swapping startup Yuma Energy at $35 million. Wealthtech platform Centricity and insurtech startup InRisk Labs raised $30 million and $27 million respectively, while most of the remaining top deals, including CtrlS and Arboreal Bioinnovations, clustered in the $15-25 million range, reflecting genuinely steady investor interest in early-stage companies rather than a handful of outlier bets.

The quarter-level numbers put this in context. Early-stage deals alone totalled $1.01 billion across 194 rounds in Q3 2026, even as total funding across all stages came in at $2.9 billion, below both Q1's $3.87 billion and Q2's $3.5 billion. Business Nextgen Finance and agentic AI startup Runable each raised around $21 million, while NeoGeo, Nexedge Capital and QNu Labs each secured $20 million, rounding out a genuinely broad-based early-stage funding environment spanning infrastructure, food tech, fintech and deep tech.

From powering AI data centres to scaling sustainable food systems, CtrlS and Arboreal Bioinnovations capture just how differently investors are placing early-stage bets across India's economy right now.
