Proactive AI Startup Sol Emerges From Stealth With $4 Million From General Catalyst, Nexus Venture Partners and Others

Sol, a proactive AI startup founded by former CRED executives, has emerged from stealth with $4 million in funding led by General Catalyst and Nexus Venture Partners, with participation from Z47's DeVC, Peercheque and CRED founder Kunal Shah.

Here's the core idea behind Sol. Instead of waiting for users to type out a prompt, Sol identifies commitments people have already made in their emails, a promise to send an analysis, a request to schedule a meeting, an agreement to align on something, and starts doing the actual work needed to fulfil them, from research and document creation to building presentations and coordinating calendars, all while keeping the user in control of the final outcome before anything goes out.

The founding team brings real domain credibility here. Sol was founded in August 2025 by Anish Karan, Prateek Srivastava and Ranjith Nair, all former CRED executives, and the startup is positioning this as a genuine shift in AI assistants, moving away from reactive chatbots that simply wait for prompts, toward agents that proactively act on commitments already made. Once connected to Google Workspace, including Gmail, Sol builds a contextual understanding of the user's role, their working relationships, the companies they deal with, and how they communicate differently with different people, before it starts acting on their behalf.

The fresh capital has a clear purpose. It will go toward research and development, covering LLM processing and tooling costs and talent, alongside go-to-market initiatives as Sol works with early customers across geographies. The startup already has over 100 users on its pre-launch platform and is currently offering selective, waitlist-based access, with plans to open up more broadly in the coming weeks.

Founder Anish Karan framed the core problem well, noting that people whose work runs on email often have to repeat themselves, first writing the email, then again prompting an AI tool to act on it, and there's no good reason that redundancy should exist. He also pointed out that Sol's real competition isn't other AI assistants, it's the manual workflows, reminders and routines people have already built around existing AI tools, which require constant reconfiguring to stay useful.

From reactive chatbots to genuinely proactive agents, Sol's stealth exit is a bet that the next wave of AI assistants won't wait to be asked.
