InCred Capital Appoints Abhinav Khanna as Capital Markets CEO and Abhimanyu Kalra as MD and Co-Head of Equities to Scale Its Institutional Equities Business

InCred Capital, the institutional, wealth management and asset management arm of the InCred Group, has appointed Abhinav Khanna as CEO of Capital Markets and Abhimanyu Kalra as managing director and co-head of equities, as it looks to expand its institutional equities business in India.

imageHere’s what each leader brings. Khanna has more than 25 years of experience across India, the UK and the Middle East. He most recently served as managing director and chief business officer at ValueQuest Investment Advisors, and before that spent over a decade at Citigroup Global Markets, where he was managing director and head of equities for India. Kalra has more than 23 years of experience in equity markets, including 18 years at Nomura, where he built relationships with global and domestic asset managers.

The appointments are part of a much bigger plan. InCred Capital aims to grow its market share in India’s institutional equities segment multi-fold over the next five years, backed by investments in technology, execution infrastructure and international expansion. The focus areas include research, sales and trading, block execution, equity capital markets and corporate access.

The global push is already underway too. InCred Capital has launched its US business under Arunava Das, who joins as CEO of InCred Capital USA. Das previously led JM Financial’s North America business and held senior roles at JPMorgan Chase and Edelweiss Capital. InCred Capital’s wider platform spans investment banking, institutional equities, wealth management and asset management.

The reality check worth noting: institutional equities is a highly competitive space where established domestic and global players already hold significant market share, so hiring senior names is a strong start, but winning mandates and building trust with asset managers will be the real test.

When a firm brings in two veterans with over four decades of combined experience and opens a US arm at the same time, it’s a clear signal that the ambition is long-term and global.
