IAN Angel Fund Leads Rs 5 Crore Round in Deeptech Textile Startup IndigoTex, Scaling India's Waterless Wool Innovation

IIT Delhi-originated deeptech textile startup IndigoTex has raised Rs 5 crore in a funding round led by IAN Angel Fund, with SIDBI, FITT and IIT Delhi Angels also participating. The fresh capital will go toward setting up manufacturing, expanding its sales and operations team, and commercialising its textile products.

imageHere's what makes IndigoTex genuinely different. The startup has developed India's first waterless wool finishing technology, a meaningful shift for an industry where wool processing traditionally relies heavily on water and chemical-intensive methods. Its flagship product, IndiWool Denim, combines wool with denim across multiple variants, from lower wool-content fabrics built for all-weather use to wool-rich fabrics designed for colder climates. The company is also developing ECOTEX Wool, a parallel technology focused on washable wool and poly-wool fabrics, widening the commercial applications beyond just denim.

The founding team brings real technical depth to this. IndigoTex was founded in 2024 by Satendra Singh, Prof. B.S. Butola and Dilip Singh, combining academic research credibility with a clear path to commercialisation. The company has set up a finishing facility in Rai Industrial Area, Sonipat, Haryana, while its R&D operations continue to run out of the Research and Innovation Park at IIT Delhi, keeping one foot in applied research and the other in actual manufacturing.

The early traction is genuinely promising for a company at this stage. IndigoTex has signed NDAs with global fashion names Ralph Lauren and the Kering Group in France, and is currently in discussions with other premium and luxury brands, garment manufacturers, fabric exporters and sourcing companies. The startup was also among 120 startups selected for Bharat Innovates 2026 in Nice, France, and featured at the BRICS Summit 2026, signalling real international visibility for a young deeptech venture.

The reality check worth flagging: Rs 5 crore is still early-stage capital, and NDAs with global brands are a strong signal of interest, not confirmed commercial contracts. The real test will be converting that interest into actual purchase orders at scale.

From an IIT Delhi lab to conversations with Ralph Lauren and Kering, IndigoTex's waterless wool technology is a reminder that India's next sustainability breakthroughs might come from textiles, not just clean energy.
