Former Livspace Executives' Startup Gravity Raises $15 Million to Build India's Interior Materials Platform

Bengaluru-based premium home interior materials startup Gravity has raised $15 million in a mix of equity and debt funding led by Info Edge Ventures and 3one4 Capital, with Alteria Capital, Genesia Ventures and a group of angel investors also participating.

imageHere's what Gravity is actually solving. Rather than building yet another home design marketplace, the startup is creating a technology platform layer for India's deeply fragmented interior materials industry, which involves a long chain of manufacturers, suppliers, designers, architects, showrooms and design-and-build businesses. Gravity brings together specialist businesses in the kitchen and wardrobe segments onto a shared technology, distribution, key account management, and operating infrastructure, aiming to simplify sourcing while improving product availability, fulfilment speed, and pricing visibility across a historically disorganised supply chain.

The founder story adds real credibility here. Gravity was founded by Saurabh Jain and Lalit Mittal, both former senior executives at Livspace, with Jain having previously served as Livspace's India CEO and co-founder. Their years inside India's organised home interiors space gave them a front-row view of exactly how fragmented and inefficient the materials supply chain still is, even as consumer-facing interior design platforms have matured.

The traction so far is genuinely notable. Gravity says its initial portfolio of businesses already has a multi-hundred-crore revenue base and is EBITDA positive, a rare claim for an early-stage platform play, suggesting this isn't a pre-revenue bet but an operating business already generating real cash flow.

The fresh capital has a clear four-part roadmap: strengthening technology, distribution and key account infrastructure, expanding into new product categories, building brand capabilities, and funding working capital, the kind of blended equity-debt structure that makes sense for a business handling physical inventory and logistics at scale.

The market opportunity is enormous too. India's home interiors market is estimated at roughly Rs 3.5 lakh crore ($35 billion), with a design-specified materials pool worth around Rs 1.5 lakh crore ($15 billion), a category that has largely stayed offline, fragmented and inefficient even as adjacent segments like interior design and furniture have gone digital.

From scaling one of India's biggest home interiors brands to building the technology backbone behind the entire materials supply chain, Jain and Mittal's second act is betting that the real opportunity was always upstream.
