Flipkart Minutes Turns Two, Clocks 4X Growth and Expands to Over 150 Cities Across India

Flipkart's quick commerce platform, Flipkart Minutes, has completed two years of operations since its August 2024 launch, growing 4X year-on-year and expanding its network to nearly 1,200 micro fulfilment centres across more than 150 cities.

Here's what's really driving this growth story. Around 60% of customers return to shop on the platform repeatedly, and Flipkart Minutes has created more than 4 lakh direct and indirect jobs since it launched, numbers that suggest genuine repeat behaviour, not just one-time trial. The platform has also built a partner ecosystem of nearly 500 D2C brands and connected thousands of farmers directly to consumers through Farmer Producer Organisations.

The Tier 2 and smaller city story is arguably the most interesting part. Customer bases in these markets have grown nearly 25X year-on-year, with cities like Ambala, Barabanki, Bhagalpur, Durgapur, Kanpur, Roorkee, Siliguri, Salem and Tiruppur emerging as standout growth pockets. And demand there isn't limited to daily essentials either, customers are ordering Korean noodles, gourmet sauces, ready-to-eat meals and premium skincare, categories once considered strictly metro-only.

Gen Z has become a major force shaping the platform's direction too. This segment now drives over 45% of orders across several non-grocery categories, and category-level growth reflects that shift, gourmet and specialty grocery has grown 8X in under a year, men's grooming nearly 6X, and pet food close to 5X year-on-year. The platform's largest single order to date was worth Rs 6 lakh and included five smartphones, a clear signal that quick commerce is no longer just about groceries.

Sustainability is quietly becoming part of the operating model as well. A growing share of last-mile deliveries now run on electric vehicles supported by battery-swapping infrastructure at micro fulfilment centres, alongside a shift toward lighter, compostable and biodegradable packaging for fruits and other perishables.

From daily essentials to five-smartphone orders in one go, Flipkart Minutes' two-year journey shows quick commerce in India has moved well past its convenience-only phase.
