Agricultural Machinery Company Balwaan Krishi Raises Rs 100 Crore in Series B Round to Expand Manufacturing and IoT-Enabled Equipment

Jaipur-based Balwaan Krishi has raised Rs 100 crore in a Series B funding round led by First Bridge India Growth Fund Private Equity, with participation from other institutional investors, marking a major step up from its earlier $2 million pre-Series A round led by Caspian Leap for Agriculture Fund back in May 2023.

Here's what Balwaan Krishi is actually solving. Founded in 2016 by Rohit Bajaj and Shubham Bajaj, the company makes agricultural equipment purpose-built for Indian farming conditions, and it's targeting a very specific reality, around 86% of Indian farmers are small and marginal, cultivating less than two hectares. Its entire product portfolio is priced between Rs 10,000 and Rs 1 lakh, designed to be genuinely accessible to this segment through a hybrid B2B and B2C distribution model.

The fresh capital has a clear roadmap. Balwaan Krishi plans to expand its domestic manufacturing capacity to improve control over product quality, supply chains and availability, while cutting dependence on imported machinery and components. It's also strengthening dealer and service networks in Southern India, building on its existing base of over 800 dealers across Northern India and an e-commerce presence that together serve more than four lakh farmers. On the product side, the company is investing in farm equipment with predictive maintenance and IoT capabilities, essentially bringing smart-equipment thinking into small-farmer machinery.

The bigger sector story adds useful context here. India's agricultural machinery startup ecosystem has been seeing genuine momentum, electric tractor startup Moonrider raised $6 million in 2025 after an earlier $2.2 million seed round, Harvested Robotics raised Rs 5 crore in seed funding backed by Anand Mahindra to build AI-powered laser weeding technology, and digital tractor marketplace Tractor Junction raised $22.6 million in a Series A led by Astanor. Balwaan Krishi's raise fits squarely into this broader wave of capital flowing into electric tractors, robotics, AI, automation and digital platforms for Indian farming.

From affordable equipment for small farmers to IoT-enabled machinery built in India, Balwaan Krishi's Series B is a bet that agri-tech's next big market isn't large commercial farms, it's the 86% who farm on less than two hectares.
