Yesterday we had to go to the north side of Shuswap Lake to pick up a package. We haven’t been down this side since before the wildfires of last August.
It was so sad to see the destruction of trees, businesses and homes, plus the overpowering smell of burnt wood. (I purposely did not take photos of destroyed homes out of respect and it was just too heartbreaking)
We had watched the fire from our home on the opposite side of the lake (we were lucky as it could easily have been us too). Now to see what the actual destruction is heart wrenching. My heart goes out to those that have lost so much.
