My name is Suleiman Al Farra and I am a 25 year old photographer from Khan Younes, Gaza. I live with my family (which consists of my mother, younger brother, little sister, older brother, his wife, and their children) in the south of Gaza. Ever since I was a child, I've endured numerous sieges and bombings from the Occupation. Despite this, I still hoped that we could live side by side with our neighbors in peace one day. Since October 7th, 2023, that hope has been broken- but not destroyed. We've been displaced at least 10 times. Each displacement being harder than the last one. Most recently we were living in a partially destroyed house in deplorable conditions. We made basic repairs to make it habitable and even managed to build a patio out of recycled bricks! Unfortunately, we were ordered to evacuate and are now living in makeshift tents. Tents that were designed to be temporary have now become our home for an unknown amount of time. In Gaza, every day is a struggle to find food, medication, internet access, and clean water. We don't know what to expect from one minute to the next. This is what consumes our days- an endless search for the basic necessities of life. But, we persevere because there is no other option. I am Suleiman. I am a son, a brother, an uncle, a friend, a photographer, and a writer. This war has taken so much from me, but it hasn't taken away my hope. I want to share my experiences, my thoughts, and my dreams for tomorrow with you through journaling and poetry. One day, when this is all over, I hope to publish a book of short stories, poems, and my random thoughts. Until then, I humbly request having nice 'cup of coffee' with you. Thank you.
