Hello! 👋 I'm Sai, an artist, data scientist and wildlife nerd. I made Wildlife On Screen, the most detailed online catalogue about animals featured in nature documentaries.

As a long-time fan, I’d always been curious about how science education has changed over time. For instance have documentaries showcased more endangered animals as real-world biodiversity loss has worsened? Or has modern tech, such as drones, enabled new stories to be told about familiar species?

There was no way, before, to answer these questions because the information had never been collected and codified. So, I did it myself, recording over 3,000 animals from documentaries spanning 5 decades, and even reaching out to filmmakers and scientists to enrich the data with information that’s never been made public. 

But now it is, for everyone to use and learn from!
