About Sailing on a Budget
Hello, my name is Doug - AKA OldMan. I am recently retired and my plan is to sail the Bahamas in my 1980 Endeavour 32. I named her "Sea Lili" after my granddaughter.
I've been sailing locally for almost 40 years but I've never had the time to really go anywhere. I'm hoping to turn my 1st season in the Bahamas into a longer term "live aboard" lifestyle, and go further into the Caribbean.

I don't want to give away too many details yet, but if you're here you deserve extra. So to let you know I did indeed make it across the Gulf Stream safely. I did NOT end up where I want to be. Y'all, it was a crazy ride is all I can say. It was not unsafe - BUT - it was absolutely not comfortable. But I'm here, I'm safe, Sea Lili is fine. She does better than I do. There is a steep learning curve...

Wow, the work on the shaft and stuff is way harder than I was expecting. I've known for a long time you need good tools, but in this case - you REALLY need the pro quality. I worked on trying to get the prop off for about 3 hours and finally called in the yard mechanic. We had the prop off in 10 minutes. Same with the coupler on the other end of the shaft. I tried for about 30 minutes, went and bo...
