On March 9, 1992, Pearl Jam played a packed club show at The Loft in Berlin, Germany—sold out at around 600 fans—during their early European leg supporting Ten. It was a raw, energetic night in the band's breakout year, with the set including staples like Wash, Once, Even Flow, Alive, Black, Deep, Jeremy, and Why Go, plus Porch and an encore of Garden and Leash.
What made this concert historic: it marked the first live performance of their cover of Neil Young's "Rockin' in the Free World." Eddie Vedder introduced it perfectly, saying something like, "If we're gonna play it anywhere, we should play it here." The band nailed the anthemic energy, turning it into a crowd-pleasing highlight amid the intimate, sweaty vibe. Eddie also made a point during the encore to clarify they weren't "the sound of Seattle"—there were many sounds from there.
A memorable early PJ moment that captured their rising fire and connection to rock roots. Bootlegs of the show circulate among fans for good reason—pure '92 intensity.
