I'm Ryan — a software engineer with about five years in the industry, which is long enough to have shipped things that made real money and short enough to still be mildly surprised every time. I once built a pricing tool that added $4M in revenue in under a month and integrated a payment system that helped move $1M+ in gear in its first few months. I also once built a turkey giveaway app in 72 hours because 2,500 people needed turkeys and someone had to make it happen. Five years in, and I'm still quietly terrified and hoping the world doesn't end before my code ships.
When I'm not fixing other people's production issues, I'm creating my own at home — running a full homelab (Plex, a NAS I definitely over-engineered, Pi-hole, the works), building and endlessly upgrading a PC I first put together in 2017, and occasionally cracking open a Switch or PlayStation to see why it stopped working. Outside the screens, I do woodworking, fish, garden (mostly peppers and tomatoes I'll turn into something later), smoke meat, and generally treat my house like an ongoing contracting project.
Your support goes toward coffee, domain names I'll never fully use, and the server bills for whatever unhinged self-hosted project I've decided is definitely going to work this time. In return, you get the warm feeling of enabling chaos — and occasionally, something genuinely useful falls out of it.
No pressure. But if you've ever thought "someone should build that," I'm already halfway there and severely under-caffeinated.
