I was born in a very religious household and was a believer myself. But as i grew old the idea of god didn't make sense to me. all the things god stood for conflicted with each other and real life experiences. So i became non religious when i was in my teens. As for existence of god? Do they exists? No one can know for certainty that they do or do not, the better question is do you believe in them ( idk if that makes sense? )
Religion vs god
Existence of religion doesn't need a god. It's based completely on faith.
Religion is very powerful, it can make you the humblest person or the evilest person you can imagine, it holds the power to influence entire goverments, because of religion humans have created one of the most beautiful things like music, art, architecture ( not saying we wouldn't have these things without religion, it just means we've had some great works inspired by religion ).
Religion is a tool , good people can use it to give themselves hope, a reason to live, someone to look upto, maybe a reason to be good? But it can also be used to terrorize , control, manipulate and kill.
If a person is good only because of fear of god, are they really good?
What about the gods that we worship and what about mythology?
I do believe some of the mythological people were real but 99% of it is just fantasy and hyperbole. Everything is exaggerated to the extreme.
What if god really exists?
Well idc. There's no point in worshiping them even if they exist. They never bothered with people, i mean... why would they? If you were a cosmic being who doesn't need space to exist and exists without time; created space, energy, matter & time itself, Would you care about few carbon based life forms who can't even achieve world Peace or get a date on tinder? In the grand scheme of things we're no more significant than a grain of sand in Sahara.
Maybe they never intended or thought that a planet will have life on it and people will become self-conscious and question their existence. We could be ( and probably are ) just random anomaly. If you look at the size of Universe and see the probability it doesn't look like special creation.
God can just be a cunt who made Universe for lols or a school project and we're just on their shelf RN or maybe we're inside a video game that god is playing we could be one of it's endless creations.
If god doesn't care about us why should we?
