Google fit is one of Google's worst products

Oct 28, 2021

It's a tie between assistant routines and fit TBH.

#Complaint no 1

Okay so Google knows when i go to work because i told google maps about my daily commute routine and it even tells me ETA everyday.

Google also knows i use a motorbike to travel everyday because i told it. Now everyday, it adds " morning bicycle ride " even though it clearly knows i am going to work, and even know it can calculate my speed, and even though people don't drive their bicycles at 40 kmph.

So despite having so much data, how is Google fit so dumb?

#Complaint no 2

I have a mi band 5 and i use mi fit app for it. Mi fit app is synced to Google fit.

Now when i use continuous heart rate monitoring, it shows up in Google fit. But i don't use continuous heart rate monitoring because it eats up the band's battery within few hours. So instead i just use it to track my workouts but i also take my heart rate everyday twice daily atleast but it won't show up in google fit, but when i use the heart rate monitoring using back camera and flash of my phone it registers that data.

This is similar to first one but for sleep data, it won't sync my sleep data at all from the mi app.

And it's not just the prob with mi fit app, Google's stock clock app has a bedtime tracking feature which tracks your phone and app usage and alarm timing to estimate your total bedtime. And guess what? It doesn't get synced in the Google fit app and it randomly goes away from clock app aswell.

My fitness pal, yea that ugly garbage looking app, is sadly the best one i found for tracking nutrition and caloric intake. And you guessed it, it doesn't sync data in google fit app ( I've linked both of them ).

I tried built in calorie tracker in google fit, added every single data point ( macros + micros ) of an egg and then noticed there is no option of serving size and quantity, you can't even edit / delet an entry once it's made.
