Happy Autumn Equinox! 🌽
I learned some interesting things about equinoxes and solstices, today.
It drew my attention for the first time to how they mark the four Cardinal points in the Astrological Year. There is the Spring Equinox (Ostara) marking the start of Aries season (♈), Summer Solstice (Litha) marking the advent of Cancer season (♋), Autumn Equinox (Mabon) - that’s today - marking when the Sun enters Libra (♎), and finally, the Winter Solstice (Yule) marking the start of the Capricorn transit (♑).
What is fascinating about this journey are the new things I keep learning and leaning into, and how they align with the Times. Not just from a collective point of view (I can’t generalise here) but a personal one, also. These seasonal transits remind us that we, like Nature, continually operate in cycles - teaching us to honour our phases. To give thanks (Blessed be!!!!), to lean into that Higher Heart perspective, and to revel in the Mysteries.
Today’s post is a scrapbook of a few different things.
I wasn’t planning on watching this new film on Netflix, Do Revenge, that stars Camila Mendes and Maya Hawke in prominence along with plenty of other familiar faces. My critical ass thought it’d be one of those OTT New-Agey teen flicks that usually miss the mark or come off thoda cringey... Something like that, anyway. However, my equally curious ass saw tweets about the film and it seemed to be ‘getting interest’ for the right reasons and I thought, Why not?
Watching it was an immersive experience, it was refreshing in some ways and I liked both Camila (especially her) and Maya in the film. On a general level, I’ve been thinking about ensemble-cast films and how they can be a mark of good, cohesive storytelling (that Crafter and Teller Duality) - I find it impressive to see how all the elements and peoples tie in, orchestrally.
A yummy takeaway from the last few minutes of the film. This, spoken by a cool actor who brought (for a minute there, I wanted to say brang... brung... and I was like ‘Hey, Brain?’ 😅) maj Nineties Nostalgia to the screen.
“Your whole life, you’ve been cocooned. Everything you’ve done, everything that’s happened to you, it’s brought you to this moment. And now you’re a butterfly... A beautiful kaleidoscope of trauma and resilience.”
!!!!
And I thought to myself... That’s some Magic Mushroommmmh Energy right there! 🍒 🌙 🍄 💫
The same character followed this with... “Fuck figuring out who you’re meant to be. Stay lost as long as you can.” And I thought that was a great message, also.
