Rod Grant started writing poetry in the early 1970s, soon after his years of service with the Band of the Royal Military College Duntroon. More than fifty years later, there are hundreds of poems; some published in local anthologies, most shared only with family and friends or at an occasional Yass event.
This project is about preserving that body of work in Rod's own voice. Over the past two years, we've recorded and mastered five spoken word albums at Coastal Country Media in Batemans Bay. Three tracks from the first of these, Lest we Forget, is being released in time for ANZAC Day 2026 so that local radio stations can use this to commemorate this important occasion.
For any poems that may have national significance, we are seeking to donate these into archival collections, such as to the Australian War Memorial, the National Film and Sound Archives, and more.
But there are more albums still to come. We've also yet to get the ones we've finished onto online streaming platforms so we are working behind the scenes to make that happen. Several collections remain in various stages of production, and each one needs studio time, mixing, and mastering to bring it to completion. That's where your support makes a real difference.
