Amongst a gathering of familiar gulls on a beach in South West England, I spotted something rather unexpected — a magnificent male Eider duck.
More commonly associated with northern coastal waters, this rather distinguished visitor certainly stood out from the crowd.
A lovely reminder that sometimes the unexpected is right in front of us. We just need to take a second look.
