LIFE IS SHORT

Aug 10, 2024

I can't explain this heavy sorrow,

Witnessing others’ grief and hollow.

That day etched deep within my mind,

A stark reminder, life’s unkind.

We don’t command the threads of fate,

Our only choice: to celebrate.

For time will steal what we hold dear,

Leaving only memories clear.

A song that lingers in the night,

"In the Stars," where pain takes flight.

Benson Boone’s lament so pure,

A requiem that will endure.

It’s heart-wrenching to question why,

Why loved ones fade and say goodbye?

Even healers can’t defy,

Fate’s silent whisper as we die.

I’m clinging tight to all that’s lost and gone,

Refusing farewells, for this pain lingers on.

It cuts so deep, for countless reasons,

They’ve stolen the best from love’s own seasons.

REFLECTION:

It is an undeniable truth that “life is short.” This concept has been explored and articulated by numerous philosophers throughout history, who have examined the various reasons for human mortality. The inevitability of death is a fundamental aspect of the human experience, shaping how we perceive our lives and the world around us.

Understanding Mortality

Mortality can arise from a multitude of factors, including natural causes, accidents, illnesses, and other unforeseen circumstances. Philosophers have long debated the implications of our finite existence, emphasizing that life’s brevity compels us to reflect on our priorities and values. As we navigate through life, we accumulate cherished memories with loved ones, which serve as a testament to our experiences and relationships.

The Role of Fate and Divine Will

It is essential to recognize that many believe our lives are ultimately governed by a higher power. In this view, it is believed that only God has control over the timing of our departure from this world. Regardless of one’s beliefs about fate or divine intervention, the reality remains that death can come unexpectedly at any moment in life.

Embracing Our Reality

While the thought of mortality can be painful and unsettling, it is crucial to accept this reality as part of the human condition. Acknowledging that there will come a time when we must leave this world encourages us to live more fully in the present. It reminds us to value our relationships and create lasting memories with those we hold dear.
