Blessings and Greetings! I’m Crystal Sage. As a Family Historian, the founder of Griot Collective Provisions and co-founder of Re[Frame] Productions, my mission is simple but profound: to find, document, and distribute our history. From nationwide down to individual family trees. I spend my days (and many late nights) navigating the complex paper trails of Black American and Gullah Geechee history. From breaking through the "1870 Brick Wall" to verifying DNA connections that were severed generations ago, this work is about more than just names on a page—it’s about restoring the dignity, stories, and legacies of our ancestors.
Why Support This Mission?
Genealogy and historical conservation is a labor of love, but the "provisions" required to do it right—specialized database subscriptions, record retrieval fees, DNA kits for elders, and the high-end production tools I use for series like Sankofa: Roots & Resistance—come with a cost.

Subsidized Research: Helping low-income families or elders who need professional help to find their people but can’t afford the full cost of a private investigator.
Content Creation: Funding the production of my educational series (Anansi’s Tales, Griot Collective) so I can continue teaching the community our history, culture and folklore, and how to research their own roots for free.
Community Resources: Developing my upcoming workbook, "Minding My (Ancestral) Business," as a broad resource for Black Americans to reclaim their history and other community outreach programs held throughout the year.

When the paper trail goes cold, the science heats up. 🧬📜 I spent my weekend deep in the "genealogy lab," and let me tell you—the breakthroughs I had were a massive reminder of why I do this.
