A Lot of People Don’t Actually Want Happiness. They Want Familiarity. Even If It’s Miserab

imageThat sentence hit me square in the chest when I wrote it.

Because once you really sit with it, you start realizing how many people are living entire lives built around avoiding discomfort instead of actually chasing joy.

People stay in careers they hate because it’s “stable.”

People stay quiet because they don’t want to make others uncomfortable.

People stop singing.
Stop creating.
Stop dreaming.
Stop traveling.
Stop trying.
Stop living.

Not because they don’t want more…
But because familiarity feels safer than freedom.

I know this because I did it too.

For years, I lived according to what made sense to everybody else.
Be responsible.
Be realistic.
Tone it down.
Don’t be “too much.”
Don’t take risks.
Don’t start over.
Don’t make people uncomfortable by changing.

Meanwhile my soul was over here kicking the damn walls trying to get out.

And here’s the crazy part nobody talks about…

People will praise sacrifice right up until the moment you choose yourself.

The second you stop performing the version of yourself that made everybody else comfortable, suddenly people have opinions.

Too old.
Too loud.
Too risky.
Too unrealistic.
Too emotional.
Too ambitious.

Listen carefully…

Most people are not afraid for you.
They are afraid of what your courage says about their excuses.

That realization changed me.

I started realizing I did not come all this way in life just to spend the second half of it existing quietly.

I want more singing.
More stages.
More laughter.
More guitar playing.
More random adventures.
More creating.
More dancing in kitchens.
More trying things badly until they become beautiful.
More living stories worth telling.

I am no longer asking permission to enjoy my own life.

Some people wait their entire lives for “the right time.”
Then one day they look up and realize they became experts at surviving instead of living.

No, thank you.

I refuse to die with my real life still trapped inside me.

So if you see me changing…
Good.

If you see me trying new things…
Excellent.

If you see me becoming louder, freer, happier, more creative, more adventurous…
That is not a phase.

That is a woman finally returning to herself.

And honestly?
More people should try it.

The world does not need more exhausted humans performing fake lives for approval.
It needs more people brave enough to become who they were before fear, guilt, expectations, and survival mode took over.

If this hit something inside you, welcome to my little corner of the internet where I share the real stuff:

The rebuilding.
The dreaming.
The music.
The adventures.
The messy middle.
The purpose journey.
The becoming.

Because life is way too short to keep abandoning yourself just to make other people comfortable.
