Time

This life season has been revealing in many ways. The most significant revelation? Me and time.

For years, there were regular measurables; nearly all were external. There was always something to mark the time, from class deadlines to game schedules to sermon prep to vacation days. Outside of my self-imposed blogging and podcast schedule, Tuesday evening is my only tangible measurable—ensure the trash is out at the curb!

And then there was that excuse, "If I had more time…."

That has initially proven to be a self-fib. Now that I have the time, many things still don't get done promptly.

Second to me, and time, is the understanding that I can't take the parameters of my former season into this one. Thus, are external measurables an essential part of this life season?

Maybe I should see it as changing from a manufacturing season to a rural way of life. The necessary noise and regular production quotas of life's manufacturing season aren't the same as the after-factory seasonal responsibilities of a harvest.

I prefer the latter; a bucolic life season eradicates my self-fib because the season to "get that done" hasn't ended yet--I still have time to get er done!--and I can still get the trash out on time.

I don't know. Maybe that is more of a rationale than a revelation, but I'm going with it! 😉
