A proposito di Read It Aloud
Hi — I'm the developer behind Read It Aloud, a Chrome extension that turns any text on the web into a natural human voice using your own
ElevenLabs account.
I built it for my own brain first. I have ADHD, and reading long articles, legal documents, court filings, and dense PDFs on a screen
was a constant uphill battle. Audio changed that. Listening — especially at 1.5x or 2x speed — engages a completely different part of focus than visual reading. It cut through the wall.
Once I had it working for me, it became clear how many other people it could help:
• ADHD — audio sustains attention where visual text loses it
• Dyslexia — hearing words removes the decoding tax on reading
• Visual fatigue, eye strain, post-concussion sensitivity
• Anyone learning English or another language — natural pronunciation
of any text on any page
• Anyone who just wants to "read" while cooking, walking, driving,
or resting their eyes
• Accessibility users who already lean on screen readers and want
higher-quality voices for casual reading
The extension is free and always will be. There are no ads, no analytics, no tracking, no data collection. Your API key never leaves your device except to talk to ElevenLabs.
If Read It Aloud has helped you focus, learn, work, or just rest your eyes, a coffee goes a long way. Every tip funds development time,
ElevenLabs credits for testing new voices and features, and the next round of accessibility improvements.
Thanks for being here. ☕
