Monday morning I opened the real checklist. Auth that survives a password reset. Billing that reconciles. Data that has an owner. Monitoring that pages a human. A kill switch. A customer who pays. A name on the pager.
The demo was still pretty. Production had not started.
I keep seeing this scene, and not as a joke about juniors — it's the default shape of building right now. People have never been faster at standing something up, and that is not the same as owning something that lives.
Saturday's demo answers "can it render?" Monday's checklist answers "can it survive a stranger with a credit card and a bad password?" Those questions select different survivors.
