A Sound Inhuman will be the sixth Ray Adams novel, and the third to feature Lukasz Quilter and his crew.
Professor Zu is head of the Carrado Scientific Mission, a huge project on a Federation Conservancy; a planet to which access is strictly controlled in order to preserve the work being carried out there, and to protect the indigenous population. But it's a constant balancing act, weighing the scientific needs of the Mission with the budgetary, and the funders want results.
Zia Chaikel runs a small independent news team and after a potentially contentious political story is pulled, she reluctantly accepts an assignment to document progress at Carrado; a puff piece to keep the donors at bay. But every assignment is an opportunity and maybe if she digs deep enough, she can turn this lame duck into a golden goose.
Lukasz Quilter is an independent trader, chartered by Zia to transport her team. It's a solid paycheque, which is all Quilter is looking for out of life. The last thing he needs is another job getting... complicated. But there's danger stirring in the jungles of Carrado, and the oppressive heat is least of the challenges Lukasz will need to overcome if he wants to get his crew out alive.
