Reviving the Dunkirk Spirit: Why Britain Must Remember Who We Are

This was not my article to write. Who am I? A nobody, an unknown, but an unknown with an overwhelming compulsion to write this, and so reluctantly I share with you the words that I feel the Lord has placed on my heart, so please accept this in the spirit that it is offered, but take heed, it is not to be ignored.

There’s no easy way to say it.

Our nation is struggling. The past 50 or 60 years have seen a slow but steady erosion of something vital, something at the core of what once made Britain a resilient, unified force. As we face political instability, cultural division, economic hardship, and a creeping sense of powerlessness, it’s time to ask ourselves a hard question: what happened to the spirit that once carried us through our darkest days?

Right now, many of us feel like we’re living through one of the bleakest chapters in modern British history. And I’d argue that, since the Second World War, we haven’t seen a more serious threat to our collective confidence, our national identity, and most importantly our basic freedoms. But there’s hope. Because we’ve been here before. And we’ve overcome worse. All it takes is remembering what we’re capable of when we come together under one banner, with one will: the Dunkirk Spirit.

Now, let’s be clear, this isn’t about the dictionary definition of "Dunkirk spirit," which describes a generic sense of camaraderie in crisis. That’s part of it, sure. But the real Dunkirk Spirit is something far deeper. It’s raw courage in the face of adversity, it’s faith when hope has run out. It’s an entire nation coming together, shoulder to shoulder, determined not to let the person next to you fall. The true Dunkirk Spirit is the Spirit of God.

Let’s go back to the spring of 1940.

British forces, along with their French allies, had been driven back by the relentless push of the German war machine. Trapped along the French coast at Dunkirk, they were staring defeat in the face. Over 330,000 soldiers, brothers, fathers, and sons stood on those beaches, vulnerable, exhausted, and nearly out of supplies. The sea behind them. The enemy closing in.

Churchill had been Prime Minister for just over a week when the scale of the disaster began to dawn. If we lost the British Expeditionary Force, it wouldn’t just be a military defeat, it could mean the collapse of national morale and the beginning of the end for Britain itself. Across the country, the mood was grim. Many believed we were finished.

But we weren’t.

On May 23rd, 1940, King George VI, the late Queen’s father, addressed the nation. He didn’t sugar coat the threat, but neither did he despair. Instead, he called for something ancient, something powerful: a national day of prayer. His words stirred the heart of a people who, despite the looming catastrophe, had not yet surrendered their faith, or their fight.

“Let no one think that my confidence is dimmed when I tell you how perilous is the ordeal which we are now facing. On the contrary, It shines in my heart as brightly as it shines in yours but confidence alone is not enough. It must be armed with courage and resolution, with endurance and self sacrifice.

At this fateful hour we turn as our fathers before us have turned, in all times of trial, to our God most high, Let us with one heart and soul humbly but confidently commit our cause to God and ask for his aid that we may valiantly defend the right as it is given to us to see it.

Keep your hearts proud, and your resolve unshaken. Let us go forward to the task as one man, a smile on our lips, and our heads held high, and with God’s help, we will not fail.”

On that Sunday, churches overflowed. Queues formed around the block. In every city, town, and village, people knelt together and lifted their voices for the safe return of their fathers, sons and brothers.

Meanwhile, on the ground in France, British and French forces were locked in a brutal, rearguard retreat. Ammunition was running out. Rations were down to two days. German panzers had reached the coast, just 12 miles from Dunkirk. It looked like the trap was about to snap shut.

And then something astonishing happened.

The German advance... stopped.

For reasons still debated to this day, Hitler ordered his panzer divisions to halt for 48 hours. His commanders were stunned. The decision was called madness. But it gave Britain something we desperately needed: time.

Then nature joined the fight. Thick clouds grounded the Luftwaffe, shielding the stranded troops from aerial attack. The sea, often treacherous in the Channel, lay calm. And in that narrow window between May 26th and June 4th over 338,000 Allied troops were rescued from the beaches. Fishermen, lifeboat crews, merchant seamen, all played their part, sailing into danger to bring their boys home.

This was the real Dunkirk Spirit. Not a vague sentiment, but a nation summoning every last ounce of courage, sacrifice, and faith. It was a miracle, but it was a miracle that required action.

So why bring all this up now?

Because we need that spirit again.

Today’s battles aren’t fought with bullets and tanks. They’re fought in our classrooms, our hospitals, our parliament, our culture. They’re battles against division, apathy, despair, and cynicism. And while the enemy may not wear a uniform, the threat to our freedoms, our families, and our future is just as real.

We’ve lost something as a people, a sense of shared destiny, of belief in one another, of responsibility beyond self. But that can change. It must change. Because if Dunkirk taught us anything, it’s that even in our lowest hour, we are capable of rising, if we choose to rise together.

It’s time to remember who we are.

The Decline of Belief – and the Cost of Forgetting

Back in 1940, Britain was a nation that still believed. In times of crisis, people turned instinctively to prayer, to churches, to God. The events surrounding the evacuation at Dunkirk weren’t just seen as a military triumph, they were widely regarded as a divine intervention in response to the united prayers of a desperate people. And whether you believe in miracles or not, the timing, the conditions, and the outcome remain staggering.

But fast forward to today, and the spiritual landscape couldn’t look more alien to those wartime generations.

The rise of liberal secularism, the sexual revolution of the 1960s, and a handful of ideologues masquerading as scientists like Alfred Kinsey and John Money rewired the moral compass of the Western world. They told us we were nothing more than clever animals, that sexual taboos were oppressive relics, and that liberation came through indulgence, not restraint. Their so-called "research" was riddled with bias, often fraudulent, yet it found its way into government policy, academia, and even international bodies like the UN and WHO.

And today, we’re reaping what was sown.

Education: Where the Battle Begins

Nowhere is this cultural rot more visible than in our schools. Ideologies that would have once been laughed out of any sane classroom are now baked into the curriculum. Critical Race Theory, gender fluidity, and “comprehensive” sexuality education are promoted as moral imperatives, while basic values like biological reality, family, and personal responsibility are derided as outdated or oppressive.

Children, many too young to even understand the concept of consent, are being exposed to explicit material under the guise of “relationships education.” Teachers are instructed not to “assume gender,” and boys are allowed into girls’ changing rooms. Parents who question this madness are told they’re bigots or, worse, reported to social services.

And then we wonder why we’re facing a tidal wave of adolescent mental health crises, porn addiction, drug abuse, and perhaps most disturbingly, child-on-child sexual abuse. The figures are chilling: 52% of all sexual abuse against minors in the UK is now committed by other children.

Let that sink in. Over half.

What are we doing to our children? This isn’t just misguided. It’s a betrayal.

The same system that tells our kids they’re stardust and animals, turns around and tries to teach them morality. The same system that removed prayer and Bible stories from the classroom now floods their minds with postmodern confusion and nihilistic despair. And it started decades ago with fraudulent tools like Haeckel’s embryo drawings, used to prop up Darwinian theory long after they were exposed as fakes. These drawings weren’t removed from textbooks until the early 2000s, long after shaping generations of young minds.

And yet we’re told that to question the theory of evolution is anti-scientific. But where are the transitional fossils? If the story of evolution were true, the ground should be bursting with the remains of creatures caught mid-change. Archeopteryx? It's a bird. Tiktaalik? Still a fish. The evidence just doesn’t stack up, and yet it’s still taught as gospel truth, while the actual Gospel is pushed out the back door.

A Nation Without Roots

Prayer has been stripped from our institutions. Christianity, the foundation of our moral and legal systems has been sidelined as irrelevant at best and offensive at worst. The transmission of faith from one generation to the next has been severed. Most young Brits today couldn’t name the four Gospels, let alone explain who Jesus really was. And I say that not to point fingers, but as someone who once stood in that same ignorance until I found Christ.

Today, nurses are disciplined for wearing crosses. Public buildings are scrubbed clean of Christian symbols. A 2012 court ruling even banned prayers from being included in local council meetings. And in this bizarre new order, preaching the gospel in public can get you arrested for “offending” someone, while men parading naked in front of children at pride events are applauded and protected.

We are living in a society where freedom of thought is policed, where social media posts are scrutinised for “wrong-think,” and where holding a belief, however peacefully is enough to get you dragged into court. This isn’t progress. It’s tyranny with a smiling face.

The Illusion of the New Atheists

And if our schools didn’t indoctrinate us enough, we had the New Atheist movement sweeping through the 2000s, Dawkins, Hitchens, Harris, Dennett promising that science and reason alone could deliver us to some rational utopia. "God is dead," they told us. "Religion is a virus. Reason will save us."

Well, how’s that working out?

Are we freer? Happier? More united? Or have we become a society increasingly anxious, divided, and adrift?

The truth is, the more we’ve run from faith, the worse things have become. The New Atheists made the same tired mistake: setting science up against religion, as if the two were enemies. They conveniently ignored the fact that many of the greatest scientific pioneers Galileo, Kepler, Newton, Faraday, Kelvin, Collins were devout Christians. These weren’t backwoods mystics. These were some of the most brilliant minds the world has ever known.

Even today, around 60% of working scientists identify as Christian. Why? Because the deeper you look into the complexity, the order, the fine-tuning of the universe, the harder it becomes to dismiss it all as random. Particularly in fields like cosmology, and Neurology the evidence is leaning harder and harder in the direction of design.

And now, more and more young people are turning away from atheism. Not because they’ve been convinced by doctrine, but because they’ve lived through its consequences. They’ve felt its emptiness. They’ve seen the fruit of a society without meaning, without objective truth, without hope.

They’re looking for something solid. And in some cases, they’re rediscovering the truth that their grandparents lived by the truth that built hospitals, established universities, enshrined human rights, and gave us the moral framework that once made Britain great.

The rise of the left

Then there’s the quiet but relentless rise of the extreme left over the last fifty years. It’s been a long road for them — because in the early 20th century, the masses weren’t buying what revolutionary Marxism was selling.

Back then, despite the chaos of the world wars and the upheaval of the Russian revolution, ordinary British working-class people rejected the class war narrative. They weren’t interested in tearing down society. So the radicals adapted. They changed strategy. They found a new way in.

They called it the long march through the institutions, and it came cloaked in the language of compassion: Critical Social Justice. Identity Politics. Diversity. Equity. Inclusion. It sounded virtuous, but it was a trojan horse, not a path to unity, but a quiet revolution.

Movements like Just Stop Oil, Extinction Rebellion, Black Lives Matter, even Greenpeace, they all wear the mask of social justice. They use the right words, hit the right emotions, but underneath is the same old aim: the dismantling of Western civilisation, the erosion of democracy, and the total destruction of the family unit.

This is no longer about justice. It’s about power. It’s about control. And they are getting louder, more aggressive, and more embedded in every part of society, media, education, politics, even churches.

Let’s briefly shine a light on just three of these modern-day “faiths” because that’s what they are: secular religions all drawn straight from the Marxist playbook of manipulation, fear, and control.

1. The Climate Cult

In 2007, Al Gore won the Nobel Peace Prize for his film An Inconvenient Truth, a documentary riddled with exaggeration, speculation, and politically-driven fear mongering. But none of that mattered. Science took a back seat to ideology.

He told us Greenland was melting, and Arctic ice would disappear by the year 2014, sea levels would rise by seven metres, polar bears were drowning, and the Caribbean Islands would vanish under the sea by 2020, much to the dismay of celebrities like Mick Jagger, who feared losing his home on Mustique to the waves.

And then came the constant countdowns: We have ten years left… nine… twelve… Our house is on fire! We must change everything or the earth will turn to cinders.

“Follow the science!” they cry. But that phrase has become little more than a slogan. Even top climate scientists, like NASA’s Gavin Schmidt and IPCC contributors such as James Skea have admitted that there is no cliff edge. No impending doomsday. The timelines are artificial. The fear is political.

In fact, Gavin Schmidt said plainly: All these climate disaster deadlines are nonsense.

If you haven’t read Watermelons by James Dellingpole, you should. He exposes what many have long suspected: that these movements are green on the outside, but red on the inside. The colour of Marxism. The tactics of tyranny.

Just like the National Socialists and communists of old, the goal is not to save the planet — the goal is to control the people. To centralise the economy. To impose a new world order through the coercive power of the state.

It’s not about emissions. It’s about submission.

2. Identity Politics — Divide and Rule

The second weapon in the Marxist arsenal is identity politics, and it’s been devastatingly effective.

Rather than uniting people around common humanity, shared values, or even economic concerns, identity politics splits society into an endless array of victim groups. It replaces community with conflict. Instead of rich vs poor, it’s now black vs white, male vs female, straight vs gay, trans vs everyone.

It’s a deliberate strategy. The old Marxist class struggle didn’t get much traction in the West because people still had hope. So they created a new class war based not on money, but identity. They weaponised skin colour, gender, and sexual orientation to pit people against each other. Victims vs oppressors. Perpetual outrage. Perpetual revolution.

You’re no longer judged by your actions or your character, but by your “group.” And if you’re in the wrong group? You’re automatically guilty. Of what? Everything.

This is cultural Marxism; the belief that Western society itself is oppressive, that its institutions must be dismantled, and that the only way forward is through radical “equity,” which really just means enforced equality of outcome, no matter how unjust or irrational.

The end result? Resentment, division, bitterness, and fear. You can’t speak freely without risking cancellation. You can’t disagree without being labelled a bigot. The very foundations of civilised discourse are being torn down, and our universities, media, and corporate boards are cheering it on.

3. Black Lives Matter — The Lie Beneath the Slogan

Let’s take a closer look at Black Lives Matter.

Of course black lives matter. Every life matters. That truth is foundational to Christianity, to human rights, to any functioning moral society.

But BLM as a movement, not the slogan, the movement, is something else entirely. It is a highly political organisation, rooted in Marxist ideology, explicitly committed to the disruption of the nuclear family, the dismantling of capitalism, and the redefinition of justice through the lens of race and grievance.

Don’t take my word for it, listen to their founders. BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors openly described herself as a “trained Marxist,” and their original mission statement included goals like ending the “Western-prescribed nuclear family structure.”

Let that sink in.

While millions of people took to the streets in genuine grief and solidarity, thinking they were marching for justice, the organisers were pushing an entirely different agenda behind the scenes, one rooted not in healing, but in revolution.

And the fruit of it? Riots, arson, police stations burned, cities looted, communities, including black communities devastated. And billions raised… where did that money go? Lavish homes for the leadership, not to the streets they claimed to represent.

It’s a bait and switch. Hijack real pain, real emotion, and redirect it toward radical transformation of society. Not justice. Not reconciliation. But vengeance and power.

And the saddest part? Many in the Church fell for it. Major denominations issued statements supporting BLM without even reading the small print. They bowed to the mob instead of standing on the Word of God.

These movements aren’t isolated. They’re connected. They flow from the same poisoned spring: neo-Marxism dressed up as compassion, but driven by a hunger for control.

They preach tolerance but practice tyranny. They claim to fight oppression, but they silence, shame, and destroy anyone who disagrees.

And until we call it out, plainly, boldly, and without apology, they will keep marching forward, dismantling everything good and true in their path.

So here we are. A society that once fought tooth and nail to defend freedom, democracy, and truth now bows down to a new priesthood of ideological activists, waving banners of “equality” and “justice” while laying dynamite at the foundation of everything that made the West flourish.

They scream about inclusion while silencing dissent. They preach tolerance while crushing any opposition. They brand disagreement as “hate speech,” label ordinary people as “far right,” and tear down statues while building monuments to confusion and chaos.

All the while, the real consequences play out in plain sight: fractured families, rising mental illness, soaring crime, sexual confusion, and children who can’t even define basic biological realities.

And the saddest part? Most people know deep down something’s wrong, but they’re too afraid to say it out loud.

A culture unravelling

Let’s not sugar-coat this. What we are witnessing is the systematic dismantling of the Western world, not through war or invasion, but through ideology. Cultural Marxism, identity politics, and Critical Social Justice have done what bombs never could: they’ve turned citizens against their own history, their own culture, and even their own biology.

It’s a revolution not of rifles and tanks, but of ideas. And ideas, as history has shown us, can be just as destructive as weapons.

This movement doesn’t want equality. It wants control. It doesn’t want justice. It wants power. It doesn’t want to fix the world it wants to remake it in its own twisted image.

The erosion of truth in the name of "lived experience" has led us to a place where feelings now define reality. Where a man can declare himself a woman and be applauded, while a woman who affirms biology can be fired, sued, or even jailed.

Truth has become hate. Sanity has become controversial. And courage, real courage, is simply telling the truth in public.

So what now?

Back to the roots

We need to remember who we are. We need to go back; not to some imagined golden age, but to the foundations that built the most stable, free, and prosperous civilisation the world has ever seen.

That foundation was the Christian world view.

Not cultural Christianity. Not vague spirituality. But the actual Gospel of Jesus Christ rooted in truth, grounded in love, and unflinching in the face of evil.

This world view gave us the idea of universal human dignity, the concept of rights, the rule of law, compassion for the poor, care for the vulnerable, the sanctity of life, and the belief that every person regardless of race, sex, class, or creed is made in the image of God, and by default holds individual sovereignty and innate value.

It was that vision that underpinned our legal systems, our healthcare institutions, our universities, and our basic understanding of morality.

It was that vision that built the West.

And it is only by returning to that foundation that we will be able to rebuild what is crumbling.

Because without God, there is no fixed truth. Without Christ, there is no redemption. Without the Bible, there is no solid ground for human rights, justice, or even the concept of "good."

We’ve tried to replace God with politics, with ideology, with science, with sexuality, and with ourselves, and it has failed. Miserably.

And now we stand at the crossroads.

The time for silence is over

This is not the time for weak faith, for silence, or for compromise. This is not the time for appeasement or for retreat. We are not called to be passive observers in a collapsing world. We are called to be salt and light.

We must speak the truth in love, but speak it we must.

We must defend our children, our faith, our freedom, and our future.

We must not hand over our culture, our institutions, or our nation to ideologies that have already proven themselves bankrupt, violent, and destructive.

And we must stop being afraid.

The same God who saved a nation at Dunkirk, the same God who raised up Wilberforce, Bonhoeffer, Corrie ten Boom, and untold others, is still on the throne.

He is not finished. And neither should we be.

The church must rise again, not as a cultural relic or a compromised institution, but as a courageous, truth-telling, grace-filled, Spirit-led force that proclaims the Gospel boldly and lives it faithfully.

Because at the end of the day, it is not political parties, policies or protests that will save this nation, it is repentance. It is revival. It is a return to Christ.

Choose this day whom you will serve.

The time for playing it safe is over. The battle lines have been drawn; not with guns or bullets, but with ideas, truth, and the very souls of our children.

And in this battle, neutrality is not an option.

A baffling alliance

So now we turn to what is possibly the most dangerous and baffling alliance of all, the awkward and unholy pact between the extreme left and Islamists. A marriage of convenience, not conviction. One side draped in rainbow flags and shouting for secular revolution, the other calling for religious purity and submission to divine law. Apart from their shared hatred of Western democracy, freedom of speech, and Christian values, they have virtually nothing in common.

And yet, in their crusade to bring down the existing order, they’ve decided to march together. For now.

The Marxists, with their champagne socialism and university salaries, see the Islamists as oppressed minorities, revolutionary allies in the great struggle against the West. But what they don’t see, or refuse to acknowledge, is that they are feeding a fire that will consume them. They are blind to the direction of travel.

History has already taught us this lesson.

In 1979, the Shah of Iran was overthrown by an alliance of Marxists and Islamists. They celebrated in the streets, the "People’s Revolution" had triumphed. But as soon as the job was done, the Ayatollahs turned on their Marxist allies, and slaughtered them. Useful idiots, discarded like pawns on a chessboard once the game had moved on.

You see, Islamism does not tolerate rivals. Especially not godless revolutionaries. Even in recent decades, Western contractors working in sensitive Middle Eastern areas were advised not to list "atheist" on their ID tags. They were told to write "non-practising Christian" instead. Why? Because in certain Islamic environments, admitting to atheism could mean abduction, or a bullet to the head. That’s not paranoia. That’s standard risk protocol.

Meanwhile, back in the West, the so-called progressives continue to do the Islamists’ bidding. Pushing for speech codes. Criminalising criticism of Islam. Implementing de facto blasphemy laws through the back door of hate crime legislation. The very same laws that, once in place, will be turned on them with ruthless efficiency.

It’s tragic irony: those shouting loudest about “freedom of expression” and “liberation” are laying the bricks of their own prison.

The surprising revival

But here's something they didn’t expect.

While the Islamic Republic of Iran continues to jail and torture dissenters, there’s something extraordinary happening underground. The fastest-growing church in the world today is in Iran, a country where converting from Islam can get you executed.

Yes, you read that right.

Despite the threat of persecution, torture, rape, (both men and women) and death, millions of Iranians are turning to Jesus Christ. An underground movement of prayer, discipleship, and courage is flourishing in the shadows of a totalitarian theocracy. Iranians, especially women are finding hope not in the Ayatollahs, not in Marx, not in revolution, but in the Gospel.

Can you believe that? God is moving in Iran.

Hello? Britain? Anyone home?

Where is our boldness? Where is our courage? Where is the church?

Love the people, speak the truth

Now before the critics jump in, let me be clear. I’ve worked with many Muslim friends over the years. Salt-of-the-earth people. Generous, humorous, respectful, family-oriented. I gave lifts to a few Muslim lads down the M4 to work every day for over a year, great banter, great people.

I admire many aspects of Islamic community life, the respect for elders, the dedication to family, the commitment to prayer and tradition. But admiration for individuals must never blind us to the dangers of ideology.

And I’ll say this without apology: I love Muslim people. But I cannot accept the religion of Islam. Because it denies the very heart of my faith.

Islam says Jesus was not the Son of God. That He wasn’t crucified. That He didn’t rise again. If those things aren’t true, then Christianity collapses. So when someone says “All religions are basically the same”, no, they’re not. One of them says Jesus is God. The other says that’s blasphemy. Let’s stop pretending they’re compatible.

Islam is more than a religion

And here’s the part many Westerners still don’t understand: Islam is not just a religion. It’s a totalitarian political system. It’s a legal framework. It’s a culture. It governs every aspect of life. It doesn’t separate mosque and state. Orthodox Islam seeks to bring the whole world, politically, culturally, and legally under submission to Allah. That includes Sharia Law, which is already creeping into parts of Western Europe under the guise of “cultural sensitivity.”

And the numbers speak for themselves. Changing demographics + democratic voting rights = influence.

Every country where Sharia is fully implemented tells the same story: non-Muslims, women, and dissidents become second-class citizens. Freedom of religion vanishes. Apostates are punished. Dissenters disappear. During 2023, 5,621 Christians were murdered for their faith in Muslim majority countries around the world. That’s 15 per day.

So let me ask you this: If Islam is such a peaceful and tolerant ideology, where is the one Muslim-majority country that practices it in a way you’d actually want to live under? Go ahead — name it.

I’ll wait.

The cost of leaving Islam

According to the charity Open Doors, the top 10 countries for Christian persecution are almost all Islamic states except one: North Korea, which sits proudly at number one thanks to its Stalinist nightmare regime. The rest on this list? Convert to Christianity from Islam and you’re executed.

  • Somalia

  • Libya

  • Eritrea

  • Yemen

  • Nigeria

  • Pakistan

  • Sudan

  • Iran

  • Afghanistan

Afghanistan, by the way, is home to the second fastest-growing Christian church in the world. Yes, you read that correctly. In a place where becoming a Christian can get you killed — people are coming to Christ in record numbers.

God is moving. Even in hellholes.

Meanwhile, here in the UK, ex-Muslims face ostracism, threats, violence, and worse, simply for leaving Islam. I’ve spoken to many. They run, hide, change their names. Some find refuge in churches that open their doors and arms to them.

But here’s the part that really breaks my heart…

The failure of the “Church Establishment”

I’m going to preface the following statement by saying there are many amazing churches across the country and there are many amazing brave Christian men and women who are on fire for Christ, and live their lives for his glory, but… the harshest criticism I reserve, not for the Islamists, not even for the Marxists, but for the traditional Western Church.

Because when we have a spiritually starved population desperate for truth, desperate for discipleship, desperate for community, too often, they find lukewarm sermons, rainbow flags, and clergy more worried about “not offending” than proclaiming truth.

Where is the church that stands? Where is the boldness of the early Christians? Where is the Peter, the Paul, the Stephen, the Polycarp, the Wilberforce, the Bonhoeffer?

Too many pulpits have gone silent. Too many Bishops have gone soft. Too many Christians are asleep while the darkness grows louder, bolder, and more militant by the hour.

And that’s why God is raising up a new type of Christian in this country, strong, bold, unafraid to speak truth to power, making the weak and watery, and the lukewarm redundant and he’s raising these unknown warriors from the unbelieving masses as new fruit, some already visible some hidden in plain sight, and they are going to change the Church, and Pastors, you had better be ready to identify them when they appear because they’re going to appear like untamed horses, and they’re going to need discipleship and not cold water poured on their passion.

Wouldn’t it be something if churches of every size, shape and stripe – regardless of denomination – came together not under a political banner, not under a social campaign, but in humility before God? No PR gimmicks, no slick marketing, no hashtags or slogans, just people gathering quietly in homes, parks, fields, chapels and cathedrals, simply to pray. No ego, no stage, no celebrity pastors, just ordinary men and women, boys and girls, crying out to heaven for mercy.

Because if we’re honest, we don’t need another policy. We don’t need another committee or a shiny new initiative. What we need is repentance. What we need is a national turning of hearts. A breaking before the Lord. We need what the old preachers used to call a Holy Ghost conviction where hearts are pierced, consciences awakened, and lives laid bare before God.

We need revival, not the emotional kind that fizzles out with the next news cycle, but the kind that reorders lives, restores families, transforms communities and renews a nation.

We’re not waiting for a politician to rise up with the answers. We’re not waiting for the media to suddenly become honest brokers. We’re not waiting for celebrity endorsements or cultural permission. We’re waiting on God. And maybe He’s waiting on us.

Waiting for His people to stop playing church, stop compromising, stop conforming. Waiting for us to stop chasing the approval of a dying world and start standing in the gap for it. Maybe He’s waiting for us to get serious, not just emotional, but truly serious about repentance, obedience, and intercession.

Because the promise in 2 Chronicles 7:14 is still there. It’s not expired. It’s not symbolic. It’s real. “If My people who are called by My name…” That’s not parliament. That’s not the media. That’s us. The people of God.

The Lord isn’t calling on Downing Street or Brussels or Washington to change things. He’s calling on His Church – he’s calling on YOU, the blood-bought, Spirit-filled, truth-loving followers of Jesus Christ. And He’s asking, will you pray? Will you turn from your own wickedness? Will you humble yourself, and seek My face?

This is not about politics. It’s not about trying to restore some golden age or cling to nostalgia. It’s about recognising that a nation without God is a nation in free fall. It’s about seeing with spiritual eyes that the crisis we face is not just economic, cultural or social, it’s deeply, profoundly spiritual.

We need a move of God, not just to heal our land, but to awaken the Church. The true Church. The remnant Church. The praying Church. The Church that’s more interested in being faithful than fashionable.

And if not now, when?

Let’s not wait for someone else to organise it. If you're reading this, then maybe you are the someone. Maybe this is the nudge from heaven to take initiative, to speak with your church leader, to gather with your home group, to put a poster in your window, to text your friends and say: “On this day of 7th September 2025, we’re going to pray.”

Let it begin with us. In our homes. In our schools. In our workplaces. In our churches. Quietly, earnestly, faithfully.

We may not be able to change the world overnight, but we can kneel in our little corner and ask God to start with us. To start with our family. Our street. Our town.

Revival doesn’t begin with stadiums. It begins with hearts on fire. It starts in the secret place, with tear-soaked prayers and broken spirits. That’s what happened in Wales during the Revival of 1904. That’s what happened at Dunkirk. And that’s what can happen again.

But the clock is ticking.

Choose today whom you will serve. Choose today to turn from distraction and compromise. Choose today to believe that God is not done with Britain. That our greatest days may yet be ahead, if only we will humble ourselves and pray.

So set the date the 7th of September 2025. Mark it in your diary. Cancel your plans. And make new ones. Sacred ones. Holy ones.

If My people who are called by My name…

Let it be us.

Let it be now.
