Hey friends! Iām thrilled to share something Iāve been quietly building behind the scenesāand itās finally live on the Visual Studio Marketplace!
Introducing Secondary Explorerāa powerful new extension for Visual Studio Code that gives you a second file explorer view, completely independent of your default workspace. Whether you're juggling multiple folders, organizing side projects, or just craving a cleaner workflow, this tool is here to make your dev life smoother.
š§ What It Does
š Dedicated Sidebar View: A fresh explorer panel to manage files and folders outside your main workspace.
šļø Multi-Folder Support: Add and organize multiple local folders with ease.
š File Operations: Create, rename, delete, and open files/folders directly from the secondary explorer.
ā” Quick Actions: Context menus and keybindings for fast file management.
š” Why I Built It
As a frontend developer, I often found myself needing to peek into reference folders, archived codebases, or design assetsāwithout cluttering my main workspace. So I built Secondary Explorer to solve that pain point. Itās lightweight, intuitive, and fits right into your workflow.
š ļø Getting Started
Just head to VS Code, search for Secondary Explorer, and hit install. It activates automatically and adds a new icon to your sidebar. From there, you can pick folders, manage files, and customize settings to your heartās content.
