Stack Light: see your 3D printer’s status from across the room

Oct 16, 2026

imageI made a stack light for my 3D printer. Three lamps, green, amber and red, tell you what the printer is doing without walking over to look at the screen.

What the lamps show

imageGreen dim glow: idle. Amber pulsing: preparing. Green solid: printing. Amber solid: paused. Green blinking: finished. Red blinking: error. Red dim glow: printer offline.

How it works

A small ESP32 controller sits in the base and reads your Prusa printer over your own Wi-Fi through PrusaLink. No cloud, no account. I have tested it on a Prusa Core One. The tower is printed in PLA and translucent PETG, and I have printed it on a Bambu Lab A1, a P1S and a Core One.

imageimageTwo versions
Basic is free. It has the standard green, amber and red setup, ready to use.
Pro is a one-time purchase. It lets you change the colours and patterns for every state, use 1 to 8 lamps, and more.

imageWhere to get it
The firmware: Pro firmware
The STL files for the tower: Printabels link
